Car was running like a bag of sh1te 2 weeks ago with emissions light on. Downloaded codes gave crank and cam sensors so changed them and then cleared codes but motor running erratically with new codes for Mass Air Flowmeter, this was changed yesterday but motor will only idle for 5 secs or so before cutting out. Fuel filter changed as it was the original (I think) with 52k on the clock, symtoms still the same. no codes logged in ECU and no emissions light. Disconnected MAF and car will idle relatively smoothly and drive albeit in limp mode. This is starting to drive me fecking spare! Any ideas as to why it's (relatively) OK with MAF disconnected but refuses to run properly with it connected? 2.2 Omega by the way.

The new MAF could be knackered. My mate got one off E-bay for his 5 series and that was shagged.

Second one fixed the problem.

Try disconnecting the battery which will hard reset the ECU - it will then relogg the sensors.

May help.

Had same problem with my old SRI it was a split in the hose connecting the MAF to the carb, worth a check, mine had spit underneath the hose so if you looked at the hose it looked ok wasn,t until I felt underneath it.

Forgot to say that I've cleared the logged codes (handheld code reader) and there are no codes at the mo, will try cleaning the throttle body tomorrow.

I also had the same problem on an older SRI and it was a split hose, not on this one though, under the bonnet is pretty pristine as far as hoses etc go. Thanks for the suggestions guys, will report back later.:PDT_Xtremez_28:
