With all of the issues with entitlement for CEAS I just wanted to see if anyone recently posted to Cosford was have any trouble getting the eligibility cert?

Due to be posted there v.soon and have 2 kids in B/School and want to be sure that we can still get the funding.

TY

Without wantign to get in to a slanging match but if you are going to cosford where you are likley to be for 3 years or so, what grounds are you going to argue to the person signing your entitlement form for keeping your boarding school allowance?

Probably 5 years!

Firstly, CEAS is continuity of education allowance not boarding school allowance so I guess my reasoning will be 'for continuity of education' this will be our 3rd move in 4 years.

Both children are at Secondary boarding school now and daughter will be in middle of GCSE's when we move and then after a 3 yr tour (we won't be staying for 5 yrs and definitely won't be putting RAF No Move down ) my son will be smack bang in the middle of GCSE's and daughter will be in the middle of A Levels.

I'm not sure how it can get into a slanging match as the CEAS fund is there to be used, yes there are cuts but as long as you aren't taking the p**s then you should be allowed it. It's not like the gov would use the CEAS fund to keep a camp open or stop redundancies, they'll just waste it on something else.

Anyway.......has anyone had any issues with the Cert? :)

The new rules make it totally fair....in essence here is how it works:

If you are an officer the chances are you meet the criteria and will get CEA.
If you are not an officer then the chances are you don't meet the criteria and will not get CEA.

There you go, simples!:raf:

Have you spoken to CEAS yet? If they think you are likely to be at Cosford for 5 years (not unusual, let's be honest) they may well refuse your mobility certificate; speaking to them first could save you a lot of trouble.

then after a 3 yr tour (we won't be staying for 5 yrs)

Unless you have that in writing I would be slightly sceptical that such a tight and definative timescale could be followed.

Not sure how informed you are, but the application for Continuity of Education Allowance is signed off by manning, once this is done it goes to the CEA people who issue the certificate, therefore its the guys on the desk who decide if you're mobile or not.

You are correct, in a manner of speaking. The decision made by Manning as to an individual's likelihood to be posted can be over-ridden by CEAS if they disagree.

As mentioned many times before:

If manning say you are staying put for 5 years, get it in writing and put it away very safely. If they then try to move you after you have been forced to take your kids out of boarding school, you have a very big stick to fight back with.

That said, with this Project Zeus coming in, there should be no chance of someone staying in post that long anyway!

What stick? They'll just come back with Service need, end of conversation.

But then they would have to prove that there is absolutely nobody else that is suitable for the posting - ie the Service "need" that particular individual to take up that particular post over and above everyone else in his rank and trade.

I believe you can no longer get it if posting is likely to be more that 2 years now. Reduced in April this year from 4 i believe.

We claimed ceas for my daughter from last sept and after a month of her being at the school they changed there mind because we would be secure for at least 4 years.

We managed to keep her at the school for 2 terms and could not afford it ourselves so at Easter this year we pulled her out and she went to the local high school. Now only four months on from pulling her from the school the base is planned for closure so within two years we will be posted.

Thanks to some serious admin errors my daughter will end up at 3 different high schools for her four years of senior education :PDT_Xtremez_25:
