The days of the 4 1/2 and 7 1/2 year bonus are over just been reading a DIN setting out the new format. Basically you are elligible from 4 years and you get a sum of money you can then claim the second sum at a later date. the longer you leave it the more dosh you get.

If you dont claim the money until the final point you get a huge £15000 (less Gordons share)

Nurses and NCO aircrew are different but the amount available is the same,

So if you stay in for longer you get a bigger bonus, and its much more than I got at my retention points.

Not going to go into all the details but is retention that bad that we have to 'bribe' people to stay in and where is the incentive for the 'experienced staff'?

Why shouldnt Officers have a retention bonus?

I believe its 8 yrs for airman and 13 Yrs for aircrew

Those Service personnel with more than 4 years reckonable service on 1 Apr 09 will not transfer to the new
scheme and will remain on their existing CB scheme as detailed in Chapter 7, Section 1 of JSP 754. Arrangements
for these personnel are currently under review. Further information will be issued as necessary.

There never will be an incentive for the experienced guys like us because the air force are targeting the future and not looking after us now, hence the problem with retention.

I feel it is all aimed at the wrong levels. But who am I, I am just a simple techie that now does 2 trades worth of work for the pay of 1 trade.

And before any ex-appos go on i know you have done this for years and if i had stuck in at school yada yada ya....

The RAF know that they don't have to "bribe" the pension prisoners like myself to stay in because we are just waiting for our pensions and lump sum before we feck off.

Time for acup of corrrfeee.
