Seeking advice. If you have had a claim paid by JPA and had it paid manually through Accounts and you unfortunately spend both and they ask for it back.

Can you request to pay it back in installments or must you just suck it up and pay up?

Serious question, for a 'friend' of mine.

Don't know why this should happen but if your 'friend' spoke to OC Accts very nicely, s/he might be given a little bit of time to pay it off dependant on the circumstances.

Depends how big your "friends" claim is.

If it is alot you can pay it back in amounts equal to 4 days gross pay per month.

Regardless of fault, don't ignore pay anomalies. It will catch up with you at some point.

Accounts bills are different to pay overissues. Technically an accounts bill can only be paid in one lump sum. However, depending on the amount, your 'friend's' best bet may be to beg for an advance of pay in order to repay the bill; that advance may then be repaid over a few months.

There are ways & means of paying back to accts in installments. As an ex-accts bod, it was common practice to come to an "arrangement" when a large bill is due.

I can guarrantee OC Accts would rather have you settle 4 small bills over a 4 month period than default on one large bill and end up on the CO's list of debtors!
