Can anybody tell me the gen regarding temporary LOA, ie what is the qualifying time?

Secondly what / how do you go about claiming "work in unpleasant conditions"

Not wanting to sound like a scrounger but I have just done a crappy task, ball breaking and I am out of pocket!!!

As a SNCO I can soak some of it up, but I really dont see why some of my youngsters should. They worked bloody hard, got F&%^£D about by the Army and with no reward and paid to eat limited crap.

Dont get me started about landing in Cyprus after hours. Claim your food back on JPA------------what food, very late night, no Euros, no transport, not sure where you could even go. PAYD for breakfast.

I can now see why people are starting to avoid tasks. What a mess, cant help feeling the bean counters have made money on our vulnability this week.

Lessons learnt, lessons identified for next time.

Thanks in advance.

The Allowances stuff has been a joke since the introduction of JPA. Seems we're being forced to suck it all up which is quite sickening.

What other company ORDERS you to a place and doesn't pay you an ALLOWANCE for being at a place because of work. Resultantly we're all out of pocket!!

7 years and I'm going. Not interested in promotion myself anymore. They treat us like a business so I treat the MOD like a business now.

RANT OVER!!!

Sorry I can't help you with your answer but I and many others feel your pain although you seem to be in a worse place than most. Hope you get it all sorted soon.

Surely Admin at your parent unit or wherever you were working for should research this for you and direct you how to go about claiming what your entitled to... I believe their trade is personnel SUPPORT . Again one of the reasons why i opted for redundancy - it almost like your claiming direct from their wages

Perhaps they're admin is being done by an Army unit (mine is). They're 'Combat HR Specialists' no 'support' in their trade title.

Temp LOA will be paid for the time you were in the country, as long as you spent a night there - when you reported to whoever arrived you on JPA, then it would automatically start. It will be stopped when you report back to HR on arrival back from the task.

Work in unpleasant conditions - Do you mean that, or do you mean "objectionable nature" - there is a difference and there is a different rate. Both leaflets are, I believe, in JSP 752. For example unpleasant conditions is a chef working a X hour shift in a field kitchen where there is no air con and the inside temp is in excess of a certain level. Ubjectionable nature is disposal of body parts.

Which do you mean? Have a read and get back to the goat if you need further clarification. I may add that it is NOT HR's role to determine your entitlement to these allowances - their sole role is to input the entry to JPA.

Muttywhitedog, cheers.

Yes it was work in unpleasant conditions, 48dg costant for about 3 days. However we did have access to water, but time constraints meant the job needed doing in a certain time.

Interesting what you say about LOA. Admin told me it kicked in on temperorary duty status on the 7th morning in line with LSA.

I didnt think this was the case as I have had it before in certain locations, for doing only a couple of nights.

Before I left my admin section was virtually depleted due to illness, courses, DWR, and workload etc. I figured I would try and do the homework first, fearful that if I didnt my request might go in to the never ending in tray.

If I knew what I was entitled for I would then claim for it, quoting the relevant JSP etc.

When I enquired through handbrake house, I received various answers all ambiguous and none to promising, would love just to get to the bottom of it all. As I can see this being an issue week in week out the way things are at work.

Many thanks.

Sounds like being a techie in the desert ! Try 4 months !!!
