Hi there.

Could anyone tell me what it's like being an instructor at Cosford.

I'm an A Tech AV Cpl.

Are there any slots that are better / worse than others? Av/El, Line Training, hangar training???

How do you apply to become an instructor?

Is DCAE still moving to Lyneham in the future?

Do you get any civvy quals from becoming an instructor?

Just considering whether to mention it on my JPA future ambitions.

Currently on Tonka and enjoying it but always thinking about future plans.

Thanks,

MF

I can't strictly help with your questions, only give a little input since I have quite a few friends instructing there at the moment. If you're looking for a posting or think you have a good chance of getting picked up, TG1 (Cpl's and) Sgt's recently have had a choice of 2 pretty much; instructing at Cosford or going to Lossie. As I said, don't take it as gospel, it's all from friendly chat... from fellow AV Cpl's - they all say it's actually quite decent - no day the same as you can probably imagine when training 'the future'! You'll be there for a few years though, and I think it's screened (if that's what you're looking for.) There are qualifications in it, I can't for the life of me remember which exact ones, I'll have to ask around. For the application procedure, go to manning - volunteers - ground trades UK, and search the list for Cpl and A Tech AV, and you'll see Cosford instructing on there as an ongoing requirement, and it'll tell you what you need to do and eligibility criteria.#It will be moving to Lyneham, but wont be for a number of years yet, I might be interested towards the end of my career when it goes down to Lyneham myself... Can't help on what sections are the better ones, guess that comes down to personal preference? EDIT: Sorry, can't format paragraphs at work... sorry!
