There are very few regional Regiments now which obviously gives to a lack of pride when the lads and lasses come home.
For example, the Sherwood Forresters became the Worchester and Sherwood Forresters who are now the Mercian Regiment, prey tell where the hell is that in relation the Nottingham. Do ant regional Regiments still exist where home town pride used to be upermost and you were encouraged to join up with your mates....

And before that, Sherwood Forresters were also known as the Notts & Derby regiment.

The reason why they are all gone is because the Army is still shrinking! Pure budget...

All money and no pride.
Spent time with a Scotish Regt in Cyprus couple of years ago, more like a mongrel Regt full of foreign and Commonwealth lads and very few Jocks so hence very little pride when they return OOA to Purbright 200 miles from the regimental home.....

The Green Howards were packed full of Teessiders before they merged to form the Yorkshire Regiment. Teesside and Yorkshire, that is a conundrum in itself.

As far as home-coming parades go - this ain't America.

Off Topic Pirbright? Did Op Fresco GG Trg there. What a $hithole.

Now then, gadgie. They used to have the Bugler paying at the Boro home games - Bruce Rioch's idea, I believe.
