Finally got to see a group who I've liked for many a long year but thought I'd missed the boat seeing some time ago when they split up in 1996. The Recurring Dreams album fetaured a live album from their farewell tour.
Crowded House reformed earlier this year after the death of former drummer Paul Heston with drummer Matt Sherod whose porfolio includes drumming for Beck.
Crowded House played the NEC Arena last night with support from Duke Special a, IMHO, not so special folk/rock group from Ireland. CH were on stage for over 2 hours and we were treated to a full repertoir of songs from the latest album, some old stuff, some improvisation and of course the more well known songs such as Distant Sun, Weather With You, Four Season In One Day.
Frontman Neill Finn has a real dry sense of humour and engaged in banter with the crowd throughout the entire show, on everything from Football (he supports Liverpool :PDT_Xtremez_30: ), through to the quality of the food at the concession stalls.
All I can say is, brilliant.

I never had the chance to see them live although I do have a dvd of the farewell to the world tour in sydney.

They are a great band to have on in the car for those long journeys and maybe a little singing along too

I'm a massive fan of Crowded House and am gutted I missed their concerts. I remember the story in the sleeve notes of 'Recurring Dream' about how the author likened the music to a story of Spike Milligan, when during a bout of his manic depression, his grand-daughter offered him a glass of water as she thought it would make him better. I sat and thought about it and, I must admit, can think of no finer analogy for their music.

A mate of mine went to see them last week, reckoned it was an awesome show.

So is that the last date ? I`d love to see them. Fave track is "Into temptation" because of a certain lady in my past, the dress was black and not new but WOW !. A linky to tickets would be good ... even if they are European dates.
