Daily Mail stirring up a non-story as usual...

Correct me if I’m wrong but surely this was brought in some time ago (compulsory D&I objectives on SJARs and OJARs) nothing really to do with new CDS. If he was asked the question about inclusivity what’s he supposed to say “nah, we’ll not bother with it when I’m in charge”? It’ll be business as usual I’d imagine.

One infantry officer said "We don’t give a stuff whether someone is gay or straight, black or white, Muslim, Christian or atheist, so long as they can do the job."

This sums my thoughts up perfectly.

So, he's just started in his new role...
Another political decision from a long looking politician in uniform.
Doesn't affect him.

Quote from article " Even private soldiers, sailors and airmen and women will be overlooked for promotion unless they actively demonstrate their support for troops who may not naturally feel comfortable in a military environment".

Just goes to show how much cr@p the writing is. if they are not "comfortable in the military environment" why is the person there in the first place? Once again, the PC brigade are pandering to a minority. How about making the majority "comfortable" by improving accommodation etc.

It is the Daily Fail writing rubbish.. Get your head out of your backside. There is no PC brigade involved in this. Your ****e accomodation is due to a governments that do not give a **** about serviceman, red or blue.

Surprised it’s still a story in this day and age, most young people accept others being different, I can see how this goes against the uniformity of military service, however, what people do away from the coal face (can we still say that) as long it’s not illegal nor destructive to the service ethos should not be an issue.

You’ll always have racists, sexists and bigots where you’ve got a standard distribution of society, and it’s good that we no longer view acceptable behaviour as they see it and expect toleration and acceptance. We all have conscious and unconscious biases, we need to reflect to make sure we don’t end up blocking good guys, gals and others who don’t look or act the same as ourselves.

Any organization needs to ensure it has a balanced inclusive workforce, without going beyond and starting to favour minority groups, that’s when normal people start to object.

I’m not a fan of quotas, but I am supportive of positive behaviours that encourages equality of opportunity and access.

Not what I would expect to see from a senior HR Manager.

Good Job as I’m not as lowly as a just a HR Manager then.

Just in case it’s not a joke are you saying that you think that people should be treated better because of their background, or are you saying you’d expect HR to normally push this type of PC clap trap.

If you are content to tell someone that they are not normal because of the colour of their skin, their religion, gender or sexual orientation then you need more than a course. You need a one-way time machine back to the 1950s.

Can we still mock the religious people of ALL denominations for their beliefs or is that blasphemy?

ILLKC,

It was precisely the "Daily Fail's " PC brigade pushing a non story that I was referring to. My head is currently backside free (having demobbed 5 yrs past) and my accomm is the best I have ever had (own house).

You may want to reflect on your own prejudices if your first thought is that people who aren’t normal are somehow lesser than than some one considered as such.

Just saying.

Nope, not allowed to mock religious types any more either. As they've been identified as generally weak minded people, we are now required to pity them instead...
