Can't see it myself.......very limited interest really especially with the demography of this country now.

Crack on..........

Sent from my iPad 2 ....yes I doooo

Can't see it, I lived there till Jan this year and the place is a chav infested dump now. It's a shame because I remembered it as it was when I visited there in the late 80's

What an absolutely typical hair brained idea from the locals...
Build something on a run down, dilapidated and shabby pit.
It has a notorious poor road system (A15) north of Lincoln, half of a bypass that is a recognised choke point and a city centre where you can walk through faster than in a car.
The city cannot support the extra traffic, although it would be nice to see the base regenerated significantly.
Only a local's opinion...

This was originally considered in 1988, however, we were in a recession and no money could be found to fund it.

How busy is the BBMF visitors centre? I suppose you could base some assumptions off that figure for whether there is the appetite for something else in the area...When the re-make of the film due out?

Corrected for you ...

Scampton is a total and complete embarrassment to the memory of the guys who flew that mission and took part in the war as a whole from there.

My favourite part at the minute is they have brand new naming signs (Gibson, Hannah etc...) popped on the outside of these run down and neglected shells of buildings they have let rot.

A fitting tribute to guys who gave their lives for their country I'm sure you'll agree.

I think that a major problem at Scampton is English Heritage which had a huge say in how they were going to renovate blocks etc.. that was when 1 ACC and TCW were going to be based there. Then it all went pear shaped... oh no,,, it was that shape to start with.

You're right about English Heritage being a pain in the arris, it was a nightmare just trying to get one building in working order.

Personally I think it would be a good idea to have BBMF & RAFAT at the same location, and it would free up some much needed real estate at Conz.

The problem is that the powers that be let Scampton decay too much when it went into 'care & maintenance' in the 90s.
