Saw then 2 weeks back in Notts. Thunder was special guesting...was like my old tape collection had been released from the eighties!!

Thunder was on top form, dodgy dancing though.

Whitesnake, loud and proud though Dave is looking old and found it hard to hold his screaming notes

Def Leppard was the tops for me, with vidoe backgrounds and a pounding bass that shook the stadium they delivered in droves.

Excellent line up, fantastic show for £42!!! It was also like a leather and stocking clad MILF show in the "mosh pit" !!!!

Rock on!!!

I went to see them a couple of months back at Wembley Arena, this show had Black Stone Cherry instead of Thunder. This was, as you said, a great night out.
I agree that Dave Coverdale's voice has become a little ropey with age, but he seems to be aware of that and it appears that he has assembled his latest configuration of Whitesnake making sure that they can all hold a note to cover for his failings.

On a similar note, I watched Deep Purple last night, and it's very obvious that the band are playing a lot of instrumentals or extended solos to give Ian Gillan's voice a rest. Still a great live band to go and watch.

Maybe Mr Coverdale should go back to his Whitesnake roots and start doing the Blues again. Saw them first in Oct '79 (2 weeks after seeing Gillan :PDT_Xtremez_28:) when they captured my soul :PDT_Xtremez_19:. Wasn't too sure about 'em in the late 80's but they recaptured me in '90 at Utrecht (Aerosmith also in the bill... great stuff!).

How many of the current Deep Purple are originals (kinda lost touch with 'em of the past few years)? Saw 'em at Knebworth in '85 when they reformed with the best known (early 70's) line up... they feckin ROCKEDDDDDD :PDT_Xtremez_30:

3 originals in the current lineup, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover and Ian Paice. |The lineup is completed by Steve Morse on Guitar (since 1994) and Don Airey on keyboards (since 2002).

Last night, 29 years ago, Preston Guild Hall, Whitesnake - Teh Wal in all his prime young hairyness; they rocked, I rocked, it was the bees-knees
