Hi everyone,

Just a general question really, if I was posted to a camp where there was a married quarter shortage, and was put up on a patch 15 miles away, would my family be able to use the local med centre?

Thanks

I think you would find that your family would need to register at the local health centre/gp surgery. Dependants are no longer able to use the med centre facilities on camp in the majority of places. The same applies to dental surgeries.

Luckily Im at a camp where spouses are accepted, however i think i heard something along the lines of "any new families posted in should register at the local GP, only existing people registered at the camp med centre can remain"

And the 2 camps ive been at as a married man havent taken spouses on at the dental centre

Ye, same here. My missus can use the med centre at our current post, but it sounds unlikely at our next. Bit rubbish if we're housed in themiddle of no where.

Even if you're living in the middle of nowhere, your wife will still be able to register herself and your children at a local surgery.
