Can someone please explain what the craic is with all this DES training?? Is there a need to do ALL the courses?? I've got a list to do but there's a lot of duplication. I have to do a fire safety course on the DLP but surely my CCS covers that?? And protecting information. I have a lifetime Q on JPA, why am I doing it annually?? Surely I should be doing the level 2 course then??

Ive done the level 2 protecting information course, but can I hell as like pass the test at the end, must have done it a dozen times and still cant crack the 80% pass mark. crock of sh!t.

The reason you have to duplicate work already done is to justify MOD expenditure on the DLP, I mean, it's not as if we ever get FCUKed about just for the sake of it now is it?

I too have a list as long as my arm of random things to get DLP'd up on, with the caveat "disciplinary action will be taken if not completed by XYZ date".

Gotta love the Army for this, I managed to miss one cut off because of leave (from when the initial e-mail was sent to cut off date) so I now have to look forward to an interview with a "senior" who is ages with my son just to explain I was on leave ******.

RAF, in jointery terms it is a dirty word.

There a number of courses that are mandatory for DES staff, now depending on the site and the management depends on how it is enforced. The fire training course is really only a way of ensuring training for those sites that don't have the defence fire service on them. Most places insist that you do training with them at least once a year, therefore there is no need to do the DLP course. If your management are happy to accept your ccs as suitable then that fine, although most places insist you do the on site course with the site fire service.

As to the info security it is based on job, rank/grade and only takes about half an hour. Whilst they are a pain in the rear its just a way to show the MoD is meeting its needs and the next time someone leaves a laptop on a train they can say they were trained on how to secure information so they get the blame and not the MoD.
