Got a new puter (desktop) and since i have had it I have been unable to get any peripherals, printers, MP3 players etc to run on it.

All of them work straight away on my laptop (both are Vista).

Have downloaded latset drivers and even have a Vista install disc for the printer but none of it works.

Any suggestions

Have you got the latest device drivers or the latest motherboard drivers?

What does the device manager say is plugged in on the desktop?

Simple problem, simple solution!

Scrap Vista, install XP!

Then make sure you have the latest Motherboard drivers as well.

Edit: Which brand PC is it? Not a PC world special I hope. :PDT_Xtremez_32:

just a thought
do your mouse and keyboard have usb connectors? and work?
try plugging them into the ports your trying to get printer etc to work in and see if they still work

are you plugging mp3 player printer etc into front or alternative usb's on the back?

a mate of mine got a new PC where they'd forgotten to connect the aux usb ports.

Hi Pen' try installing the software before plugging the devices in that should work. Before you do, have a look in device manager and delete any of usb entries which may have a yellow question mark. Let me know how you get on. good point made before check that any additional usb ports ie in the fron are indeed connected to the motherboard as some Cases have the ports but the motherboard may not have the connections.
