I left the air force in feb 09 and have yet to recieve any discharge papers.
I rang discharge clerk at my last post and first they said " you dont get discharge papers", then they changed their minds and said they would look into it and just seem to refuse to call me with an answer.

any help would be grateful, cheers

You should get a discharge certificate at least.

With date joined / left, rank attained, qualifications and a couple of paragraphs saying what a great bloke you are.

(If the clark isn't too lazy to organise that for you like the Ginger bint at Brüggen in '97 was for me).

just got in touch with discharge desk again (another different clerk) and they say that testimonials etc all been raised etc and never seen again......amazing! now I have to wait till l8r in the week to here back from them again....we will see if they ring..

whats annoying me the most is that I have to have these for proof of service for a certain job I am applying for...god give me strength.

You get a Certificate of Service, which should come in a loverly gucci blue file like the PDR's of yore. Mine was sent to me 3 months after I left, and was posted via tripoli, The Cayman Islands and a small offshore drilling rig in the North Sea..

I finished in March and received my Certificate of Service and Veterans Pin through the mail towards the end of April.

Still waiting for my testimonial, however that is done through Flt Cdr and I did mention that I am in no real rush.

Not sure how much is JPAC dependent, but your discharge clerk should have been running a checksheet throughout your discharge.

Fellah
stop messing about. Letter to the CO with your full details and story to date.
That'll soon get you a response.

Had to rummage about to find the number for JPAC office in glasgow, then it took them about 5 months to get the paperwork to me, which was a right pain in the bumhole as when i was trying to find work, every employer wants to see the paperwork of service and you feel a right knobber when you say 'erm, still waiting on it'

the wee badge is pretty sweet though, saw someone flogging a few on ebay recently:PDT_Xtremez_25:

Took me about 4 months to get my discharge pack, ended up with three in the end all turning up at once. Worth checking what jpa has down for your address, despite several attempts to change mine, they still were using my old quarter. I looked at it as the last RAF fu*kabout, dickdance. Well till the pension claim goes it much later down the line.

Dont know whats going on with me but I got mine 2 months before Im due out. My exit date is July 31st the pack up with vet pin turned up this Tuesday just gone. All very goochi but my record of service stops at 2000 with nothing from that year onwards. Hope this is of help fella. :PDT_Xtremez_26:

When i left the army and joined the raf (with half a day on civvie street between) i took my army record of service into the CIO Funny they seem to have lost and all my qualifications with it. I was severely ****ed off I sent copys of my record of service to innsworth (HQ PTC) and the training school at halton Its a p155 poor performance from the scribblies involved in my move across

Had a mate on my GE’s course, who had to sign on before PMA would let him start training (so he could complete his 5 year tour). After the 12 months of training and a couple of months into the flying he decided he had had enough and was going to PVR.

Down at PSF he advised them that he wanted to PVR and they looked up his record and sheepishly told him he is out in 9 months anyway so no need to PVR. He assured them that he ‘had’ signed on (22 to LOS 30), and how he wouldn’t have been able to train as a GE if he hadn’t.

PSF are obviously never wrong and so after much invest he was told that a PVR would not be necessary……..get yourself over to the resettlement clerk because you’ve only got 9 months left!!

Your life in their hands……………fcuking scary!!
