I was discharged from the TA RLC about 2 years ago as i couldn't put in the time or committment due to family issues. I did do a years worth of training including my 2 weeks basic which i passed.

I now realise that leaving was a big mistake although circumstances dictated that i had to, i now wish to join the raf reserve as a regiment gunner......what are my chances, is it worth applying or would i be wasting a lot of peoples time...any thoughts appreciated

The same kind of constraints will apply this time round; time pressure/work commitments and the like. As long as your family issues are resolved, go for it!

It depends entirely on you, if you are young enough, fit enough and committed enough there will be little or no problem. I don't know the exact age criteria but it can be found on the RAF web site.

My hours of work were changed from day based Mon-Fri, to night based 12 hour shifts that included 3 out of 4 weekends, explained this to the sqn captain and he was sympathetic but not a lot they could do......things have moved on, working for an other employer, day based Mon-Fri and no chance of weekend or night shift working......aged 40...resonably fit ....i suppose like you say go for it...they can only say no !!!
