Hello all,

I have in a DA claim and was wondering if anyone knows when the DA gets paid? Is it in with the next months pay or 30 days prior to the move? Also, once the claim goes in, do I get a reply if the claim is accepted or rejected?

Thanks

Stew

Depends wether your claim gets actioned before the payroll. If not you have to wait until the next month.

I've just had my DA. Like MakkaPakka said, if you get in before payroll is done you will get it that month, if after payroll you will get it next month. I think payroll is usually around 15th of each month (but i could be wrong lol)

I'm fairly sure that you can check your workflow notifications for acceptance/rejection details.

Another vote for beating the Payroll date (15th) to hoepfully ensure it is in that month's pay.

Don't understand why it was added to your pay (except to tax it). I moved on the 30th of the month last time round and ended up cap in hand to the Chief Clerk as I couldn't pay up for stuff to tie up the quarter I was vacating... Why it can't be done the same as PAR (i.e. taxed) and in your account sharpish I don't know...

DA is not taxed. Actually, that's not quite true, it is taxed under a Public Service Agreement which means the MOD picks up the tax liability. The important thing is that we as individuals don't pay tax on DA.

The reason it was changed from being a unit-generated cash/BACS payment was because the Army have always had it paid through their salary, so when JPA came along, we "had" to do it that way. A step backwards, unfortunately, but not the only one.

Fcuk me TBJ, just another example of JPA and jointery actually standing for 'It's the Army way or no way!'
