Does anyone know what the current rate for disturbance allowance is?
I'm moving from one house on the patch to another round the corner. I've been told by a mate who moved across the patch a year ago that they got £350 and no help with removals. Also been told by another friend that they got £800 ish and removals done for them.

Doesn't seem logical to me. Also, will it make any difference that we're moving on medical grounds?

WO PSF told me yesterday that if its a med move you get full rate disterbance and removals!

All i can do is tell you my story im afraid. Im moving from Lossie to Marham, im getting full removals and £990 'cos im going from private house to quarter. I think you should at least get removals but as for the sum of money you'll get, ive no idea. I think it depends on the distance you're moving?
 
What matters with Disturbance Allowance is the type of accommodation you are moving into, not the distance travelled, nor the accommodation you are leaving. Much to do with the payment of DA changed last April (as other goaters have found to their benefit).

DA for moving into MQs is currently set at £969. The Child Element of DA is £130 for each child who has to change school as a result of the move, so from what you have written you will not qualify for that.

TBJ is correct in that the full rate is £969 + £130 per child but there is also the lower rate of £350.00 which will probably be applicable in your circumstances.

Since I don't have JSP752 saved onto my home PC (honest!). How come SSH qualified for the full rate, but Fat2at gets much less? It doesn't seem right, somehow.

P.S. I'm not trying to diddle SSH, even if he did me. I'm just curious.

As DA is now dictated by what you move to, as stated by TBJ, all that is needed is an order stating that you have to move for Service Reasons, e.g. Posted, extra kid on the way. Under the old rules, an extra kid meant that you got the Special Rate and full removals help. With the new rules, I am not 100% sure of what rate you get. Still blown away by guys getting DA for their first setting up of home (getting a MQ on marriage for those that don't want to learn or hear adminese)

PSF at my unit are still denying me this and completely refuse to budge on the matter!
 
It's all quite complicated and I must admit to being off the boil last night as Shiny Scot got me p!ssed on free beer! The entitlement is dependant on the accommodation being moved into; the £350.00 was the Special rate that applied previously (before JPA). Mid assignment moves are applicable where you have a change of service accommodation entitlement (ie you get married and are entitled to SFA or your family grows sufficiently to entitle you to larger SFA). The current rate is £989 (just gone up) for a move into SFA. Downsizer, quote JSP752 Chap 7 Section 1 para 07.0114 to your PSF; if they still refuse, ask them to confirm with JPAC PACC. We've been paying personnel on setting up of home having confirmed with them. You must have an expectancy to occupy the SFA for >6 months.

Thanks for your help, however I've tried this and the chief clerk won't budge, he is adamant that the "old way" is still the correct way. I showed him the para in July last year when I first tried (and occupied my quarter) and again as a consequence of the other thread and no joy. I'm worried now that the later it gets the less likely it'll be paid.

I would suggest moving to the next one up the chain on this if the CC will not budge or even consult with the JPAC PACC. Unfortunately, the rules as they written are open to some interpretation, when read in conjuction with the Removals section. However a precedence has been set and the rule should be the same for all and not one unit does one thing whilst another unit does something else.

Kernow is right - get formal. Write a letter to JPAC PACC through OC PSF (you are still not allowed to approach JPAC PACC directly). Quote chapter and verse from the JSP. I can almost guarantee that the problem will be resolved before the letter leaves the unit.

Alternatively you can take a lesson from the Nike school of management . . . . Just Do It. Put the claim in and see what happens.
 
If push comes to shove, threaten to redress as other service personnel are receiving the cash for the same move you're making. Tell the Chf Clk it's not coming out if his pocket FFS.
 
I'd suggest writing formally to OC PSF/PMS requesting that they re-consider your case, quoting JSP & fact that other service personnel are receiving it. If they are unsure of the interpretation, ask them to write to/ring the JPAC PACC. Hopefully you should get the answer you wish.
