DofQ to PPQ

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
Does anyone know where in the 886, the relationship between DofQ and PPQ is discussed? Reason I ask is I have an item that comes packed in qty 5. The DofQ is EA PPQ 5...all good, but these cannot be issued in ones or twos (PT says so), so we have had to change the DofQ to PK, but should the PPQ now be 1 or 5? I can see arguments for both, and between 3 people we all disagree, so would be nice to find the definitive answer.

your help is appreciated.

I presume you are on a Air MJDI R1 Unit if so be aware of the following, When you got to MJDI R5.2 there is no DofQ it becomes Unit of Issue UOI and this is set from master date on the base system that holds the item or if the item is Formally a base system or MJDI or MIND managed it is set on MJDI MIS py the owning PT

If the PT say it is to be issued as a pack they need to either update the base system that holds it or update MJDI MIS i would suggest they need to make it UOI = PK PPQ = 1 also remember to tell the PT that they must ensure the correct divider and multiplier are set when they change from EA to PK.

in simple mans / women's terms a UOI should always be the lowest amount of a item that a person could require to do a process the PPQ should be set to the smallest number of the UOI that normally would be demanded for a process.

Why are there 3 different views then.

In essence, the relationship between DoFQ (or UOI as it soon will be) and the PPQ is this:

How many of the DofQ are there in the Primary Packaging?

In this case there were 5 EA in a package so it was EA in a PPQ of 5. It will now be a DofQ PK (Pack) so the PPQ should be 1.

The PPQ is often not really within the control of the PT, since the manufacturers/suppliers of the items may offer them a 'take it or leave' contract for the items at the cheapest price or charge a huge premium for supplying the item in the PPQs the MOD wants.

Your answer is appreciated and helpful, the item is new to Service and the PT decided to change individually packed items from EA and PPQ 1 to PK and PPQ 5? Ah well!!!!

Thanks for the reply, I am a contractor and we are trying to be helpful to the PT and package as requested to save them money but as ex-mil I wanted to ensure the user knows what he is getting in the PK. The item is used one at a time but the PT wants them issued in packets of five to the User but used individually....not sure that works myself!

Thanks for your help ..... is your middle name pedantic? or troll possibly? Ask a genuine question and this is the help some people give!!!!

Not a Stacker, however the post reads to me as a layman, as having only 2 choices, 1 or 5, yet you wrote there were 3 views, I was assuming you had asked someone from SHQ for an opinion. Not a troll.

To the OP I have the exact JSP references in work where you will get your info from. If you still want them drop me a PM and I'll mail them to you.
