Drink driving Doris

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
A Cpl used as a recruiting "poster girl" has been nicked for drink driving. Shopped to the civvy bill by RAF Coppers 4 times over the limit.

"Galvin admitted drink driving and was fined £1,000....was given a 29-month ban from driving which can be reduced to 29 weeks through a rehabilitation course........The court was told Galvin will face additional punishment for bringing the RAF into disrepute"

Stupid thing to do but it would interesting to know more about these ‘personal issues’. Has she been exposed to anything during her career that could push her over the edge? Unpleasant experience in a warzone perhaps, did Harvey Weinstein touch her innapropriately in Iraq?

Drunk drivers fill me with disgust and should be jailed but if there was something unless pleasant lurking in the background there could be grounds for some understanding of her idiocy.

Of course, if she’s just a drunk....BANG HER UP! (And no Fomz, that isn’t a euphemism for anything dodgy!).

There was that Brexit thing we voted on last year in the summer that might be a factor:PDT_Xtremez_14:

Let it go, for the feckin' love of God, LET IT GO!!!!!

Doesn't anyone in the RAF look out for their mates these days? Not trying to excuse getting behind the wheel, etc. but didn't anyone notice she was getting tanked and try to stop her.

So she drinks like Sue Ellen in Dallas. One has to explore the positive side - she would be great after the NAAFI bop.

Will be interesting to see what the RAF will punish her with. The days of Jankers etc now being a thing of the past. A 6 month tour down South will take a chunk out of her ban unless she's a MTD.

Trouble is with f’all to do down there apart from drink that really won’t help!

When I was (a lot) younger, and not the "diligent" Airman that I am now, I committed the same offence. After being appropriately dealt with by the Sheriffs Court (Scotland), the RAF charged me with "Bringing the Air Force into Disrepute", for which I received a Formal Warning. No fine or Jankers etc.

I can't understand why she didn't get points or would it be a double punishment seeing as she got banned.

I'm also confused as to how her next insurance company will be aware she has this conviction when she applies after her ban. I was under the impression that you got "hit"on your premium for a few years.

The question is do you have any motoring conviction in the last so many years, not how many points you have, so she will have to answer yes, 29 month ban for drink driving. Then watch her eyes water as the insurance company slips a big one in.

She will get hammered by insurers after she regains her license,if she does'nt declare it she would be uninsured!
I worked with a guy who lost his license for the same, only just over limit.
Insurance was very expensive for a few years after.
Reckon she might get a formal warning, good career move!
If she was out with mates wht did they let her drive?:PDT_Xtremez_42:

You used to have a 10 year ban on driving hire cars as well, with a lot of MT being leased does that fall in the same bracket as hire cars?

Used to stop people getting the LSGCM, had a gently drunk FS chunder all night about that once.

Yeah she'll likely lose any chance of LSGCM - she should be charged with bringing the RAF into disrepute, so regardless of how lenient her punishment from that, it's still a charge (arrestable offences can't be dealt with via MAA - I don't think!)

Still, with a charge under her belt, she's almost a shoe-in for WO within 10 years...
