Did a quick calculation last time I filled up the rover:

23mpg. :PDT_Xtremez_17:

I put it down to town driving and short trips since Mini BEngO arrived. Plus a heavy right foot because the car is still a novelty and sounds fantastic when revved hard.

with oil at $87 a barrel, I think my Rover's only vice will be it's drink problem. :PDT_Xtremez_26:

(Despite drinking more than a Discovery, my car is still liked by lentil-munching environmentalists due to it's 2-wheel drive system. Go figure)

Minor facts like engine type, fuel used, MPG etc. are ignored by said lentil munching groups they simply count the number of driven wheels and apply scorn as required. :PDT_Xtremez_43: pratts.:PDT_Xtremez_32:

I don't think they're bothered so much as to the drive system, more by the outright height / size of most 4WDs.

To them it's easy

4WD - Evil must be priced off the roads
2WD - Quite naughty will be priced off later
G-Whizz - Okay if the wigglies are produced in carbon neutral way
Bicycle - Good if the frame is from recycled metals and the tyres are from a sustainable forest eco system
Walking - Better, better still in scholl sandals

Bengo as an aside how good/bad is the G-Whizz as a motor?

fcuking awful in every way. Granted it has no emissions, but you charge it using wigglies made from a huge carbon-spouting coal-fired power station.

It does about 30mph tops, is tiny compared with modern vehicles (so you feel intimidated by traffic) and completely impracticle as a luggage carrier.

And worse, in a collision with an object, you might as well not be in it for the protection it gives (or doesn't) as it doesn't have to meet crash safety standards. It is classed as a quadracycle and not a car.

By a Smart if you want a city car. And If you don't want to pay congestion charges, use a motorbike.
