OMG just when I thought I could not be shocked by this place then I get a letter through the door stating that my photo on my DVLC is expiring in a couple of months. This photo is 17 years newer than the one used on my RAF ID by the way. Not only have they asked me to renew it, they have said if I do not then I will be fined £1000 but on top of that they want to charge me £20 for the fcuking privilege!!!

The photo currently used looks more like me than I do, what a fcuking scam this is, you even have to get new photo's taken within a month. There are times when I just want to give up on this country, its no fun any more if you are white, straight, British and God forbid you have a sense of humour.

Oh, Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you all :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Just about sums it up nicely!

If you have one of the new style passports, ask them to take the image from their records. They've just done it for me. They have to send you a form to ask your permission which you sign and return.

What you should do is 'change' address just before your licence expires, thereby getting a shiny new photocard for nothing! :PDT_Xtremez_14:

It's an EU thing

It's an EU thing

It's an EU directive that DLs must have an expiry date, however, why does it cost £20 to check an already existing record, scan in a new photo, print off a new card and send it back out.

With the same expiry date. They used to push out the expiry date but my most recent change of address they didn't the c***s.

As the holder of a non UK issued European license, I can confirm that I am not exposed to renewal fees because of an expiry date. There is no expiry date on the photo ID to expire.

Sounds like the standard government con to me.

Barstewards! They must have caught on to that little loophole then! :PDT_Xtremez_14:

Yeah me too thought It would save me the hassle if I got the address changed now before waiting for it to expire (also means I get the reminder and save myself a fine!) but alas same expiry (2 months later)
I shall be claiming it back BTW otherwise i don't go OOA 2 weeks later!
Will wait until I get back and renew it then!

Fair comment, Odiham allows.

Personally I interpret it as "if you don't pay I don't drive for you".

I thought JPA was centralised and self administered....to stop these discrepancies ?

Crack on...................:PDT_Xtremez_09:

I think you'll find that a lot of countries ignore half the flim flam that comes out of the EU but the UK sticks to every edict and rule.

Rule change here.

And here's Germany not giving a flying fig.

As it happens my DVLC Photo runs out on the 14th and I move to Lossie on the 11th, nothing ventured nothing gained I suppose.

Why the hell do I have to re-new my photo for gods sake, I mean I was an ugly tw@ then without having to prove it again 10 years later.

There is no discrepency, the JSP is clear, if your licence is funded by the MoD, ie. if any category on your licence has been paid for by the MoD OR you have been trained to Q-D-L or Q-D-H (for an OOA for example) you are entitled to claim any costs incurred in maintaining your licence entitlement. If you do not fall into any of the above categories you can, in theory, refuse to hold an FMT600. That however, is a completely different, very complex issue.

Nosejob.

I have just had a "nose job". When I'd recovered from the operation I was given the option of replacing my passport and driving license photos. I think this is a sensible option thought up by a sensible government policy maker.

Incidently, I originally damaged my Nose when a used car tyre hit my Mk10 Respirator whilst training.

I am also very much younger and better looking since the Op.

As you know we spoke on this matter, at my unit they are only paying for MT drivers. It is PSF who are refusing to authorise the claim. They are ignoring the DIN and JSP. Despite all my licenses being paid for by the RAF, being Q-D-H and Q-D-L, and require a 600 to perform my duties, they say it is optional to hold a 600 and if I wish to continue driving as a civvy I have to pay...
