DWR post promotion

Hello again! More questions splurging from my mind....

Is there a period post promotion that is mandated in any jsp? I arrived back in the UK August 2011 and will probably be due a tour away in the near future due to tg4 time scales. Due promotion imminently (at least notification will be soon).

A few years back as a JT, I was in the notice to move period of a DWR to the FI. Promotion paperwork arrived, DWR got kicked into touch and I went back to the bottom of the list in the next rank up. Sweet as. Buggers still got me three years later though.

Depends on that rank,

You could be No 10 on Cpl List, but 50 on Sgt List.

Turnaround depends on the No of Slots, in that Rank.. If they are slow to get through, you might find more people are ahead of you.

There is a Sgt at ISL who got a DWR through with less then 8 weeks notice to move less then 6 months after he had been promoted. Sometimes it's just luck of the draw.

You should move across to the DWR list for your new rank in date order (ie in your case, you should be ahead of someone who returned from OOA in Sep 2011). However, be aware of two factors:

1. You shouldn't deploy until you are substantive, in case something happens which prevents you from attending the necessary courses to elongate your career.

2. The service need.

Basically, (2) will over-ride (1) and your date position if your CM needs to utilise your particular Q's over and above someone else.
