Sad new ladies and gents, Springfield Advisory is in its death throes and will draw its last breath on 28 Apr 07. I have numerous items for those wishing to revive memories of BLMF and long hours spent in a corimec with bigger windows.

1 x Slighty used but reliable JNCO.
1 x Grey and white cat, buyer collects.
1 x Box of aircraft callsign tiles with such gems as Maple, Cougar, Spin, Buckafalo, Eightball, Rocky, ETC.
2 x Recreational DVDs from Corimec X2 (not national geographic!)
1 x Kettle (leaks faster than it boils)
Selection of SOP's (never read them myself)
1 x Thermometer (seems to be stuck on 50 C)
1x large stats file (84 moves in a day seems to be the record)
1 x AAC flag (if I can whip it down and relocate it before they leave:PDT_Xtremez_42: )
1 x Calculator (For working out OSA, yehar)
1 x 2007 RAF calendar (used as chuff chart, slightly marked)
1 x Fire safety poster with aerial shot of BLMF (i can see my corimec from here).
1 x controllers guide to heli ops (never used obviously!!!)

Payment in jaffa cakes or jammie dodgers, pm me if you are interested

Can I have the big ISO that we painted Yellow and Blue, the one in the BBQ area just in front of the swish decking?

Come and get it fella! (ooh sorry, broke into a bit of brownjob speak there,) I dont think you could afford the amount of jaffa cakes for me to spirit that away. Anyway the decking is not swish, it was the AAC what done it.

OK, its a fair cop, can you come over and replace a few dodgy boards then?

Did they bollox! We did it in 2003 - and we drained the mosquito infested buggering swamp

YOU drained the swamp? You didn't do a very good job - I got bitten to bu99ery - in January FFS!

FL10, I'll have the ma-hoo-ssive Dutch flag from outside their accommodation, the garden gnomes from the Officers' Mess garden and the furniture from the Swiss House. 2 packs of Jaffa cakes as soon as you confirm despatch! :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Mililux levels looking good for NVG ops around 0230 will report back later.

Ah memories of Banja
Six months living and working in a tin can with only 2 cans of beer a day to help you survive:PDT_Xtremez_26: .
Daytime temps between -16 to +42:PDT_Xtremez_09: .
AAC plunge pool full of Canadian women:PDT_Xtremez_15: ,
AAC plunge pool full of Army (British) women:PDT_Xtremez_34:
AAC plunge pool full of Rumanians :raf:
I remember it well.

Oh if you find an aide-memoir stuffed into one of the larger holes under the desk, can I have it back.

Enjoy the rest of your time there..

Dobar dan FL100, kako ste?

Great days in Bosnia, I actually got married 9 years ago just up the road from where you are now.

Have you ever had the chance to get into town? There's an excellent restaurant in the castle, loads of bars all the way up the street on the way to the main church, usually crawling with lots and lots of lovely young ladies.

It's been quite a while since I was last in the MF. It's another good (well better than the sand) det gone, but good for the country I suppose. It needs to turn the corner and look after itself now.

Have a good few weeks left.

The plunge pool was removed sometime ago, I believe it had something to do with a danish female who was trimming herself with a razor. Blokes in the pool didnt seem to object surprisingly :PDT_Xtremez_35: The food down town is excellent, especially when you compare it with our mess! I think there are still a couple of interesting non sandy dets out there if you look for them, in an odd way I will kinda miss the place, especially as its getting warmer. However, if I had done a six monther, I would need some serious counselling when I got home!

Six months would be hell there, the smell of $hit and the friday evening burning of the local dump were highlights! A total of 4 months there was enough for me

I left after 4 months desperate to stay for longer - horses for courses I suppose. Mind you, I had rotted my brain and most of my internal organs with Slipovic by the time I left.

Ah... Spring field Ops... Take off/land at your discretion.

What fun we had.

Sad times as well... Remember the UK RTA's that crippled 28 Sqn a nasty couple of weeks.

I do not miss the smell of the MF one bit.

Any chance of smuggling those two honey's from the mess? No? Shame, they did my morale a ton of good. Hmmmm.

Overall a good few months.

What are they going to do with the MF, restart it? There's enough metal knocking about!

I was there in December when we first dropped hints that we would be pulling out by this summer. The locals were straight in there checking that the equipment still worked. No H&S Act in Bosnia - they just jumped in and pressed the start buttons. 12 years' worth of dust and cobwebs flying around the factory all day, not a pleasant experience, and I was just waiting for the crane to come falling out of the rafters. By the time I left last month a lot of the factory had been emptied of ours and the Dutch iso-containers and it was beginning to look like a foundry again. If they can afford to pay for raw materials and the wages for the skilled labourers it should be in full operation within just a few months.

The Bosnian government is very keen to get it working as much as a symbol of Bosnia's independence as for its utility in the re-building programme. The next 12-24 months are crucial, because if Bosnia falters in that time we will have to go back in and the MF is the first place we will commandeer.

Trust me when I say that BLMF will have the biggest car-boot sale you have ever seen!! Even the corimecs are up for grabs (i'd heard that they had been offered to sandy places, but they were declined:PDT_Xtremez_35: ) The locals will have anything thats not nailed down, even if they cannot use it, they can flog it. Some of the machines are accessible, if they work is another matter. I think the blokes will be OK, I do feel sorry for some of the women who don't have a future as V high unemployment; and I will have to swap +26 and 8/8 blue for northern climes. Not to mention cutting the grass, no, no, dont mention it really! One of the locals has told me that if Kosovo gets independence (who knows?) then the northern states might apply for it aswell, hopefully they can get there sh*t together as I'm not one for returning.
