Anyone got a good number for the above POL?
Its potting compound of some variety, but bugger me if I can find a good number.
I can order it from the yanks if needs be, but that would take forever.

Any help mucho appreciated:PDT_Xtremez_14:

Yup, got that number. Not codified on USAS. I can order it under that number from the yanks, but it takes about 2 months for POL we get from them to come in.

Thanks

You got MJDI? Have you tried searching the name on there??

That number that has just been given to you may just be obsolete. I'm back in work tomorrow I'll give the IPT a ring if that helps.

Yup, tried the name with wildcard to no avail. Im working with american aircraft purchased by the RAF:PDT_Xtremez_06: so all they ever give me is american part numbers/mil specs and its a nightmare trying to obtain spares from the US, so I always try to find an RAF alternative. Thinks this one might have me beaten though!
Didnt think of giving the IPT a ring. Thanks for the help

You could also try here_iso-parts it's quite good for everything as long at it isn't Typhoon. I did a quick search though and all it came up with was the obsolete NSN. Give the IPT a ring they will have the number that it has rolled to. If you have problems getting in touch with anyone who can help you let me know I have some good numbers for people.

Hope you get what you want mate. :PDT_Xtremez_19:

Potting Compound

Potting Compound

Have you looked at PR1460Q2 as an alternative?

NSN 8030/01/4758239

Finding alternative items without going through the IPT isn't very wise!

I couldn't agree more, what are people thinking of!!!!

I'll bet you 2 are them helpful sort of suppliers that the techies love. You know they come into stores, they give you a NSN and it is NIR so you go out of your way to help them find the new NSN.... oh no wait actually I bet your not.

The OP doesn't say that he will tell the techies they can legally use it on the AC he is simply going out of his way to find them an suitable alternative which may help them in the future and save them having to wait however long the PLT is for the original product to come from the Americans. Perhaps you 2 ought to take a leaf out of his book...... I'm sure he would be a far more valuable asset to any sqn then someone who wont go that extra few yards to help people out!

***I cant wait for Pinksters reply as he is always so helpful and his posts are always an entertaining read!****

Actually i'm very helpfull, but you don't just decide on your own what you can use, you speak to the IPT, or you can wait till an aircraft falls out of the sky, and then you can explain to the enquiry why techies are using a incorrect item. Being married to a techie, i am aware of their view point, probably more than you are.

Ohh soo your married to a techie obviously that make you more able to comment. Well I am common law wife to Aircrew so does that make me able to comment??

Scenario:

Supplier to techie: here I've got hold of this stuff think it's about the same as you normally use on your AC.

Techie: nice one mate...... and toddles off and uses it on said AC.

Sound like something that would happen?? No I don't think so either mate. If you're married to a techie then hopefully you will know that would never happen but in the same breath if we can go to them and say here I have this which you may be able to use as a suitable alternative then they will appreciate that. The techies would have to go through the engineering IPT to see if they can use it and I personally don't know of any techie that would take my word for it that something was suitable for use on an AC.

Nice one RAF Bird, good oh ya. After 25 years of being in the 'stores' yet again we are still just storeman in the 'stores' so nice one snowball1 YOU REALLY ARE A PRI@K.
