My company has offered me a position in Southern Iraq. I seem to recall that HMG may still have some authority over what I get up to after my service (for a certain amount of time). I'm still in my reserve commitment, I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

Any idea if I'm supposed to be asking/mentioning this to anyone? If so then who?

It would be dodgy at the best of times but with the current Mohammed film uproar and subsequent backlash I would give it an even wider berth than before.

I do have some slight reservations, mainly about how my Iraqi colleagues would feel about the circumstances of my previous visits to their country. Not that I would mention that but plenty of people in my company at least know I used to be in the RAF. However I understand the security situation is much better than the bad old days so probably nothing to worry about really.

Any idea what my point of contact would be with the MOD?

I don't really understand why you would have to tell them anything to be fair....

Zipfish, I can tell even now that there is still a little bit of you that believes that the MoD in general, and the RAF in particular, actually give a rat's ass whether you live or die.

Dissuade yourself now from that notion - you have left and for them, it is as if you had never existed.

They don't care what you think, do or say - providing it doesn't cost them penny.

I know quite a few guys contracting in Afghanistan whilst on terminal leave, I know I did. As said above, the minute you hand your 1250 in, you ceased to exist to the RAF.
