Ok I tried to get this done but ended up the whole column changing red if the cells were empty. Ideally I want to be able to get a row tro change to red when a date in that row arrives, also if possible for the row to go amber dutring the 6 days running up to that date and for the row to be green when 7 days or more until the date.

Please help I cant get the empty cells to remain white!

as you prob know, its all in conditional formating, can you upload an example on a xls file?

Been a long time since I had to do Excel but I do a lot of work with SQL Server Reporting Services which has similar VBA behind it.

Look into the IIF statement. Basically find out IIF([Date Condition Is True],[Set True Colour],[Set False Colour]). I use this to simulate the old green bar printouts on long rowsets (if the row number is even then bgcolor=green) I would hope the same is possible in Excel.

What version of excel are you using chip?

I made a form for work with almost exactly the formatting that you are after in excel 2007, if you want, PM me your email address and i'll send it to you to take a look at.

This'll do ya'.

The - 36500 figure removes 100 years from the current date. Increase this if needed. Although I can't see you needing too. :PDT_Xtremez_14:

Copy the cell with the conditional format. Select the range of cells you wish to apply the formatting to. Select 'Paste Special' with a right mouse click then select 'formats' from the options given.

Will that not just change the colour in a cell if you place the date in it again, I am after something that changes the entire row when you put the date in one cell?
