I am both a fan of Radiohead and Joy Division so this cover version is a gem of a find in my opinion. Heres one for me and Fomz and its much better than the sh1te posted by a fat, lazy appo:PDT_Xtremez_30:

I still think that Ha-n-dbags and Gladrags was written especially for Stereophonics. Sometimes, a band can take a song, make it theirs and make it better than the original .

I had to type ha-n-dbags, because if I type handbags, <<<<<that happens.

Johnny cash did a cover of Hurt by Nine inch nails, it is an awesome song, And you know it's a good cover when the original band say it is better than their.

I'm not a fan of Radiohead, in fact I think they are one of the most overated bands on the planet. However, this in't a bad cover version at all.

For another great cover version of an old Joy Division tune, how about this offering from Therapy? of Isolation. For me, one of the first rules of doing a cover is to make your own mark on it. Therapy? certainly do so with this cover.

Oh, and I will be watching Therapy? in Bristol on Thurday night and am almost certain they will play this great tune.

I agree with Ming-Mong in that it should be compulsory for the covering band to put their "stamp" on it.

Best case in point that springs to mind - Feeling Good by Muse. Tops.

Gotta be Hush for me. Great cover by Kula Shaker of a great song of Deep Purple.

Saw them live at the Wulfrun hall in Wolves. Wasn't a fan when I went in, was when I came out.

Deep Purple's Hush itself is a cover version of a song by Joe South.

Surely one of the finest examples of a cover version ever as almost everybody regards it as DP's own. Unfortunately I haven't heard the original to be able to comment on how good it was.

I think the best cover of a Beatles song is 'Strawberry Fields Forever' by CandyFlip.

I thought it was a cover of cover of a Billy Joe Royal song?

Having checked my source (wikipedia) it appears that it was in fact a Billy Joe Royal song, but was written by Joe South. So I was only slightly wrong.

Totally agree with Dave, Metallica's version of Whiskey in the jar is excellent.

Covers better than originals?

"Johnny Was" - Stiff Little Fingers
"I Fought The law" - The Clash
"Hounds Of Love" - Futureheads

Now thats what I call ... a Thread!!

FOMz, sorry but you're wrong, the best Beatles cover is 'She's Leaving Home' by Sir William of Bragg.

3 Chord Wonder excellent choice with Johnny Was.

My own personal favourite is 'The Magnificent (7 Theme)' by The One World Orchestra aka The KLF.
