Explosion At British Base In Cyprus

A criminal investigation is underway in Cyprus after an explosion outside a police station in the British-controlled Sovereign Base Area (SBA) of Dhekelia.

I was just reading about this on the Sky website. Lots about bird trapping and Cyprus's British colonial past but funny old thing, nothing about the island having been invaded by the Turks. Guess that doesn't fit the British are nasty narrative.

Wouldn't be surprised if an SBA plod flicked his cigarette at a gas storage bottle or a can of petrol or something - the cypriots are not the most safety concious lot that I've ever met...

While based at Ay Nik, we used to take our car down into Vrysoulles for a valet - they have a little table and chairs just next to the petrol pumps, where you can sit, enjoy a coffee and a smoke (yes, they provide ashtrays) whilst the cyps clean your car....
