I was one of a lucky few to be accepted for an extension of service recently of which i am grateful to the RAF. Does this mean that theoretically my last few SJAR's stand up to scratch and that i could be in with a good shot at promotion? Otherwise why else would i be still in with a job whilst the majority are out on their arse? :)

I wouldn't go spending the pay rise until it happens! We all know that the RAF does some weird and random things for no apparent reason!
Good luck though

Just sign the papers and keep schtum about the rest of it.

If it was 9 - 12 then I know they have been extending a fair few apart from the sick lame and lazy. 12 - 15 is the one that seems to be the struggling point, unless your trade is pinch point!

75% of those applying for an extension from 9-12 years have been accepted so I wouldn't necessarily say that your extension is an indication for imminent promotion. What an extension of service does highlight is that you have more potential for a more successful career than some of the other applicants; after all, why extend someone who isn't particularly effective in their primary duty and offers very little to the service. By being given an extension, it has been deemed that you are able to continue to add value to the service for a further 3 years in your current rank; it's not necessarily a precursor to an offer of promotion so ensure you keep working towards that promotion.
