BZ to all involved...Seakings still doing the job!

British forces based on the Falkland Islands prevented a "human tragedy" when they helped evacuate a French cruise ship crippled by major engine room fire.
All 347 passengers and crew were rescued from Le Boreal, which had lost power and was in danger of grounding on East Falkland on Wednesday.
Two Royal Air Force Sea King helicopters and two other support helicopters winched 79 people from the deck of the ship and from two life rafts in the water.

It was a job well done by all. Despite there being 6 helicopters involved, the only two with winches were the Seakings. Most of the passengers were taken off on the lifeboats (probably act as tenders too) with the crew and a small number of passengers bailing in liferafts(>70). They were the folks that were winched and ferried to the nearest land for them to be lifted elsewhere for attention. Middle of the night, engine room fire leading to total loss of power in a high sea state.. it could've ended much worse. The ship was reasonably close to pranging rocks but luckily the anchor took hold and she was held. The Captain and crew did an excellent job too. His early decision probably saved the day, enabling BFSAI & the FIG to mobilise. Good drills 'n skills all round.
