Surprised nothing has been said about the death of Phil O'Donnell.
Sad day last weekend when he dropped dead playing for Motherwell.
Seems to be happening more and more. There have been calls for heart tests for all players at all levels now.
A real shame and horrible for all their.
Thoughts are with his family.
RIP

I think it's fantastic the way the English and Scottish teams have had their minute's silence/applause for Phil. At a time when it's trendy to have a pop at football, it shows that there is little if no divide between the two countries.

The only people who have let the side down is the SFA for making Dundee United (I think) play their game, even though they were the team Motherwell were playing when Phil collapsed and died...

Yeah the SFA have not covered themselves in glory this week. All matches should have been cancelled as a mark of respect.

Yeah, i cant understand it.
Wouldn't have been difficult. And i think the Dundee Untd players all said so after wards, i might dig out some of what they said later.

However, i am slightly concerned the SFA offered the postponment of games and it was knocked back, if so there will be a **** storm. Full story is not out yet.

I know Lee Wilkie had a right pop in the papers about the whole shebang. Ridiculous decision from the SFA Ivory Towers again.

I was under the impression from what was reported on the TV that all the teams had been offered the opportunity to postpone their matches and Dundee Utd turned down the opportunity!

Not true. Dundee Utd asked for a postponement and were turned down by the SFA as they were deemed "not to be directly affected" by the passing of Phil O'Donnell. Despite the fact they were on the pitch when he collapsed.

Would like to think so, sadly not:

Colin Calderwood talking about the minutes applause/silence at the English games yesterday. Nottm Forest chose not to have a tribute.

"I didn't particularly want one. The fact it was a boy from Scotland, does that make it any different to a boy from Colombia? There was nothing from the football league to us, although i heard some talk of it just before kick off. Sometimes i don't think it's appropriate for every tragedy that happens. Sometimes it has to be a bit closer to home"

And that was from a fellow Scot!

I stand corrected!!

Then the SFA want a fcking rocket up their ar$e how can you not consider them to have been affected!

Having been at a match when the ref dropped dead on the pitch I know only too well the effect!

This is what i heard also. The same applies to the other home teams on Wednesday.
However, the full facts are not out yet and the SPL, SFA have all remained silent on the issue so far.

I hadnt heard or read that. What a load of tosh. The Untd layers were some of the first on the scence and some have spoke very vividly on the tragedy.

I know he was an ex Celtic player but surely under that criteria their game shoudlnt have been cancelled on Wed. Not my opinion, just saying that if that was the way Dundee Untd were treated i can't see Celtic been treated differenty.

here we go again, everybody jumping on the emotional bandwagon to be seen wringing their hands with grief when a footballer, actor, etc,etc dies.
Unfortunate for his family and friends of course but how many of the same people are grief stricken when an unknown squaddie gets blown away?

I think your coments are totally out of order.
If you are talking about the general public's supposed apathy for our armed forces then you might have a case, but i think i speak for all on here when i say the losses suffered by our armed forces is felt very strongly with us.

The guy was a supposedly fit and healthy proffesional footballer, with a wife and four kids present at the game who dropped dead in front of a crowd of thousands.

Not the most sensitive post I've ever read, I feel for his family, any untimely death is a tragedy.

No Mad Collie i'm not a troll from arrse, I'm somebody with an opinion which I'm not frightened to give, unlike yourself I think.
When you don,t have enough intellect to argue resort to insults.
