Those who know me best have suggested that I should try bar games rather than running. With not much change from 21 stone, I always find running a challenge, but sometimes it's worth it.

This time next week, I'll be plodding my way around Greenwich in the first London Half-Marathon. It's called Run to the Beat, apparently some academic geeky type has arranged for bands to play gigs around the course with music "scientific selected" to make me run faster. I suspect that fewer pies and more salad would help more!

So why do it?

Because I'm raising sponsorship for Leukaemia Research. Leukaemia kills folk. Young folk like us. It's a horrible disease. We all know someone who's been affected by cancer of some description, this is me doing my bit to help.

I'm not going to ask you to donate a fortune, but if just a few e-goaters could see there way to throwing a couple of quid into my hat, I'd be very grateful.

I might even post comedy pictures of me running the event in way of thank you.

Cheers!

Donation made but fooking hell, you need to put a warning up with that piccie of you !! (only joking)

Hope you manage it....Best of luck.

Cheers Tashy!

Yes, I suppose that pic is a little stomach turning. But then proper athletes only have to carry half of my weight with them, that should mean my time is halved to compensate...

As you have already tried to break my leg once, I suppose i had better give you some money good luck mate:PDT_Xtremez_30:

I'm definitely in a position to testify to that!!

£55 was donated by Goaters for my Great North Run last year and so far they've donated £30 has been sponsored towards this years.

Good luck in the Great North Run tomorrow.

It's only 24 hours now until I'll be signing in at the Millennium Dome to start the London Half Marathon. Is it too late to start training for it?

Thank you to all the Goaters who've sponsored me. I'll post my time on my return.

Well, that was horrible!

The race was delayed by 45 minutes due to the tube breaking down meaning people couldn't get there and it rained. All day. And was windy. Very windy. And the course I'd been told was 'mostly flat' was actually fcuking hilly.

So 2 hours 34 minutes and 33 seconds after setting off, I finished my first half-marathon. Despite the set-backs, I had a fantastic day and the sense of achievement was huge. I'd recommend it to anyone daft enough to consider it!

Today, I ache. But I don't care. Leukaemia Research now have about £400 they didn't have before. That's got to be worth two and a half hours of anyones time.

Many thanks to the Goaters who sponsored this foolish day of agony!

Well done N.E.T. ! 2 Hours 34 mins is fecking good.......at least you did it...me, never that daft !!

Well done again, now aim for 2 hours next year !

Worse than that, I'm hoping to make the step up to full Marathon next year.

I'll find out in mid-November if I've got a place in the London Marathon from my favourite charity... I'll explain more when I come begging for sponsorship for that one!

I must be stupid!
