Interesting. Can't stand Ferdinand myself, I think I would have stuck with Terry.
 
Ferdinand may well have been appointed by Capello but if he's moving house that day he could "forget" to turn up. Not a good message from my point of view "Man who forgets drugs test appointed England Capt" is a headline we could do without.
 
If you read the full story it seems as though he (Capello) is trying out a few skippers in the friendlies before naming a permanent captain for the WC qualifiers; interesting strategy and one to keep the journo's frustrated for a while longer!!

And this is what really winds me up. At what point did the cricket team morph into the football team, with their permanent captain ???

The only message a permanent captain sends out is that he will get picked regardless of form or niggling injuries or the like. And we`ve all seen far too much of this policy over the last few years.

What is wrong with picking the best man for the job out of the starting eleven ?
 
Its completely pointless trying this method, ferdinand and england could have a bad game and ferdinand appear s*it (he is) so he won't be given another chance, next game its rooney for example and england have a stormer and win 5-0 then rooney is hailed as a great capatain, I think Capello needs as has been pointed out to stick with a proven Captain (Terry or Gerrard) and not mess about.

To be honest I think Unfortunately England will win but it won't help the football. As a Jock it is hard to say but England have a team that could actually go far in tournaments but need consistency with a consistent captain!

Im a jock, but come on, Ferdinand has had a great season. He and Vidic have been tremendous. I can see your point about rotating the captaincy for a while but Ferdinand is a great CB and deseves his chance.

Would love us to beat Croatia but i cant see it to be honest.
 
Seeing as England don't seem to be arsed to show any sort of commitment or desire to win, then i can't be arsed to start a new thread. So i'll just bung it on this one. Different manager, Same lacklustre / ****e performance. I don't know their score at the moment, but sometimes i wish i was scottish, because at least you know they'll give 110% rather than this shower of overpaid prima donna's.................................................................
