A pal of mine has been playing with my B machine. As a result, it got choked up with all manner of cr*p until I got AVG and CcClean working (the latest announcement was that I'd got lots of illegal pornographic images, and would I like to remove them (yes!)). He said that they just popped up (he didn't have the sense to kill them).

So now I'm getting worried and confused.

I've only recently installed Firefox on the B machine (which prime purpose is running Folding@home). This is at the end of a long bit of electric string to the 'Fast Ethernet switch' thence to the ADSL modem.
But:
I still keep getting the adverts, despite having installed Java.

The other problem is much smaller. How do I define the default home page?

Or have I got it all wrong ?

Windows menu.
Tools, options, Main tab. in the startup box :PDT_Xtremez_30:

I'll leave the other bit to a proper geek ! :PDT_Xtremez_15:

Get yourself a decent firewall. If they look like dialoge boxes that appear, with a snippet of text and just an ok button then spammers are using "net send" to get at the pooter and using windows internal messenger.

Get yourself zonealarm (google for "zonealarm free") and Adaware off download.com to clean off all the ****. That should sort you out for now...

They don't look like the famous dialogue boxes, but I'll check out the free Zone alarm.

Not much to add on the technical side, but why did you get rid of the porn?:PDT_Xtremez_14:

I didn't fancy hunting through Explorer trying to find stange images. If I get some there's a (secret) folder for it.
To be honest, though, there's a terrible lot of bloody awefull porn about; it's boring, signally un-erotic, and about as convincing as a chip-wrapper.

On the other hand, have you had a look at literotica.com ?

PS: On my A machine, I get the JAVA script blocker thingy. How do I get it onto my B machine please?
