I'm running the latest firefox and am having an issue with it, the problem is the longer I use it the more memory it gobbles up and eventually the computer slows down to a very slow crawl and the only way to get out of it is via task manager and "end process"

View attachment Doc1.doc

The attachment shows my task manager shot and eventually the commit charge goes through the roof.

I've tried the latest spybot and running a full scan with avast but nothing untoward was found.

Any ideas please for stopping this annoying me until I reboot the bloody thing out the window.

Thank you kind goaters.

I'm having the same issue mate, I just assumed it was a bug in the new software.

Would be very interested to hear of any workarounds.

Seems stable

Seems stable

Just watched my task manager for a while, and it kinda sits around 110,000 up a bit then down a bit.

Haven't noticed anything daft happening, bit slow but I'm on a hotspot at the mo.

Gray,

Thanks for that, it seems to have slowed the process but not stop it.

I think I'm going for a change of browser, Chrome or safari I think.

I've been giving the new version of Opera a try, seems quite speedy. Chrome was fast too, but less menus etc, and didn't seem as easy to use, might have been updated since my last try though.

I used to run firefox as it was so much better than IE for security reasons, but since it updated to version 3 I found it unusable on my PC. I had noted startup times in excess of 20 mins just to open my browser!! It is for this reason I uninstalled it and am now running Chrome.
I dont know what they have done but im thinking that their software is more supportive of windows 7....maybe a ploy by windows to make people upgrade (maybe im being cynical?)

Opera seems to be working fine:PDT_Xtremez_30:

It still slows down dramatically when IE or firefox is used so I don't know whats causing it but at least I have a workround.

Thanks for the tips and words, hopefully it won't happen with Opera.
