Having followed the smell of goat up a pongo's ARRSE, here I am (navigation always was my best subject). So, anyway, I am A Very Ancient Person who served in air traffic control in the 60s in locations home & abroad in the days when proper flying still happened at Shawbury and we all had to have air experience. Afterwards, back in Civvyland, I became what is now known as a mental health nurse. Having (eventually) gone to university at 35, I worked in the dramatic and visual arts, which included being gallery manager of a well-known museum, until family illness forced me to become a full-time carer. I'm married, and have a son, stepdaughter and grand-daughter (a sweetie ).
I now volunteer at the local mental health unit, in part using my arty-farty skills but also lending a hand with 'veteran service users' (i.e patients who are ex-service.) Given that 40% of the population will at some time or another face some sort of mental illness, it's worth knowing that ONE DAY as a full-time member of any of the armed services automatically bestows 'veteran' status in the mental health services with all manner of extra help available. You know it makes sense.
Whose round is it?
