Hi everyone, i'm currently on Supply Basic Training at RAF Halton which I finish on the 5th of March. I was told the other day that my first posting will be RAF Lyneham. Could anyone tell me what sort of jobs I could end up doing there? I've also been told that the Tactical Med Wing and Air Mobility Wing are at Lyneham which use suppliers as well. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

just wanted to say welcome to the world of being a stacker... good trade choice ;)

I dont know about Lyneham never been posted there but am pretty sure the TMW etc is classed as a seperate posting. My mate has just been posted there so will get in touch with him and find out if that is gen or not.

Good luck on your final exams.

Welcome to the Trade, I am on my TMT2 in Feb so dont be shy and say hello to us "seniors".

I spent 12 years at lyneham in 2 stints, a myriad of jibs, but as Raf Bird says TMW is a seperate post, as is the Oggies. Main Supply is good and Sqn Stores are good for development. The WO is a top guy, if a litle scary, but knows is stuff.

Plenty of opportunities to do stuff there and enjoy it.

The WO there is a pussy cat....especially compared to how he was a Cpl instructor at Hereford.

Its not a bad unit mate, social side is very good. Hope you like getting smashed? Good bunch of stackers here. Beware though, there are a few gingers like XXXX XXXXX. Other than that you should like it here, couple of bell ends but everyone avoids them anyway. peace.

Lyneham is ace mate (although i am trying to get out), you'll have a great first tour. blocks are sh*t though but you can make the best of it.

AMW and TMW are different posts mate. each with a SAC slot so you can voulenteer for your next post.

Just to back up RAF Bird, welcome to the trade and yes it is a good choice, as long as you make the most of the oportunities the trade offers. I spent 4 years at Lyneham and had a great time, but I've had a great time at all the camps I've been to. You'll soon discover its not the camp but the people there at the time that make the tour. Good luck with the final exams.
 
Hi mate,
There's quite afew jobs at lyneham within the stackers trade. most of you usual slot like POL R&D Tech Stores and Sqn stores. Also you have jobs like MT Stores, Mobility Supply Section, FDS and Forward delivery.
Has far as TMW and AMW they are seperate postings which you can apply for at a later date but are sort after and have long waiting list.
I myself have been away from Lyneham and the RAF for a while so there maybe new jobs that im not aware of but hope this gives you a insight.

Lynehams top make the most of it while it lasts!!

That place is the worst camp I've ever been to, it took 6 months to escape and I've never looked back. I do hope you have a better experience than me, I'd rather spend 6 years at Marham.
