Just a really quick question. Are RAF personnel allowed 2 attempts at RAFFT if they have a "bad day" and fail?
Just wondered. All advice appreciated.

Interupto,

there's recently been a DIN released about fitness test failure. It was brought in to harmonise action across units... for instance, my unit used to MAA you pretty much as soon as you left the changing rooms after a fail, where as others MAA'd you after a second fail.

Can't remember the number of the DIN and as I'm now a civvy I can't access them! :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Hope this tiny bit of info helps!

The new policy is as follows:

1st fail - record of interview issued and you then have 12 weeks remedial trg

2nd fail - 2nd record of interview (if you fail but show sufficient improvement in attitude, normally de fined as 25% aerobic improvement on last test) or a formal warning (if still demonstrating poor attitude) followed by another 12 weeks remedial trg.

3rd fail - extension to formal warning (by exception - must be demonstrating significant improvement) or normally QR1027 action recommending discharge from Service.

Best to pass before FW action is taken as this will impact on your career.

The most time you will get is 48 weeks (assuming 2 record of interviews are issued and FW is extended).

AP3392 vol 5 lflt 136 outlines current policy and P1 staff should be following this rigidly. The only way to avoid action is to pass or if you have underlying med issues.

Hope this helps.
