Just bimbling around the net and found this interesting FOI question about RAF fitness tests...

Makes interesting reading..

Here

and the reply

Here

interesting reading but why do Chf Tecks come after FS and before WOs? Could it be that Air Command don't know the rank structure mmmmmmm

Maybe somebody is getting armed up, they can now add at least on CPL (weeks away from his pension) to that list. Bunch of c***s need to think about the effect thier little whims have on people. Interesting though the amount of people from one place that are listed, especially the guys who should be setting the example, exempt by rank or not.

Off Topic

Thanks for that fantastic link. They are obviously very important and busy people who are head and shoulders above the menials...........But I think more attention should be given to the night shift entertainment value of such a powerful website

I give you a typical liney request

http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/royal_mail_post_box_types_collec#incoming-31588

I particularly like the fact that after requesting the location of every single postbox in the UK.....and being provided with the answer, he goes back for more in depth information.

You recently supplied an up to date 2009 list of post box locations
in the UK
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/po....
I was hoping you could expand on this a little. Could you also
supply information about box type, i.e. A,B or C pillar box, lamp
box, wall box etc. Also, could you supply the codes for each box's
kind of collection plate e.g CP1-R, SCP1-R, CP7-Y etc etc and
supplement the existing location list?

Pure class

Hours of entertainment.

Heard a rumour last week that at this time there are 4 cases going through the courts, and apparently there will be a major shake up end of September, ref equality etc. :PDT_Xtremez_30:

If the information is correct, does it mean that they are having (legal) trouble kicking people out who are on a pensionable engagement? Also, like TMG, I think (will check the Air Force list tomorrow) that there will be less than 5 AVMs and Air Cdrs at High Wycombe and all of them are out of date (too busy etc). The numbers of senior officers out of date etc is exceptionally high although it would be interesting to compare those figures with those RAF wide.

I'm sympathetic to his/her situation but surely the easiest thing would have been to maitain a minimum level of fitness to pass the RAFFT; it doesn't take a Herculean effort to pass it.

What is shocking, is the number of Sqn Ldrs at High Wycombe who have passed, attempted their RAFFT; the amount of effort it took to discharge the Cpl, Tubby mentions, should now be focused against these Senior Officers.

We were briefed by Personnel Casework on a course earlier this year that an air commodore had been put on MAA for failing the RAFFT.

Rightly so! Parity of treatment is everything. Now they need to confirm that all those who have failed or not undertaken the test have also received the initial administrative action.

So all of the administration, time and resources which has been put into the new RAF fitness test policy has resulted in seven discharges. Beggers belief.

That's because failing/not attending your RAFFT once is a million miles away from habitual failure to attend, habitual failure of the RAFFT and an habitual poor attitude towards fitness.

This is I suggest because in the Army when they tell them to run they ask 'how far', in the Navy they ask 'Can I still have a beard and lamb chops' whilst in the RAF we ask 'Why?'...

It is interesting to read this because if you people on these forums would have you beeive its a higher number of people discharged

Maybe, but that's 7 less burdens.
The figures we'll never get are of the personnel who, with the threat of consequences, dragged their arse down the gym and made sure they could pass their fitness test. I'd like to think that's a good result.

is it?

is it?

where does it say that in the RULES? If you miss the 6 month point it is a formal interview. I got caught out when i was on a temp med downgrade and the paperwork came though to my boss! It is embarassing and a waste of resources.

Very Interesting reading by the way. I would like to see the results for numbers who are over the 48 weeks out of date, so shoule officially be out the door too.

Fellow goaters does it really surprise you that our masters do not preach what the teach. :PDT_Xtremez_25:

As a smoking, drinking pi55 head (in 86) compared to a mature married serviceman of 2009 I can put my hand on my heart and say I found the 8.3 (at 42) easier than the 1.5 mile (at 19). I passed them all but my concern is for the modern young airman who wants to be the proverbial p1ss head and maintain fitness.

The RAF has changed and the serving guys need to live with it, if necessary adapt their lifestyle, but basically adapt.

Blunt but true, if you are a fat blob, you are probably better suited to civvy street. However, equally if you are weak as a kitchen dishcloth, you're not made of the material I would like protecting me!
