Can anyone please remind me what was the City & Guild Qualification that was awarded to Riggers on completion of their fitters course in the 80's? I'm writing a CV for the first time in years, and cannot remember all the exams I passed. Thank you

In Aeronautical Engineering Part 2, Part 3 was the Q course.
I Dont think the certificate had a list if what was passed.

Hope this helps?

I went through a similar exercise about ten years ago.
I had two C&G Full Tech Certs in Telecommucations and Radio and TV.
I needed to prove they were equivalent to HNC and City & Guilds agreed they were Level 3, but were going to charge me £30 search fee to find my original records (1979). I didn't pay the £30, but told the prospective employer what had happened and he accepted that.

A HNC is a level 4 or level 5 qualification (depending on the year of award).

Level 3 is 'A' Level, HNC is pitched at the first year of an Undergraduate degree.

"Thanks for the gen. I was just a month before you. The heady days of living out at Stanbridge., until they brought back because we were have too good a time!"

LOL! "we" were the other way around - and got to stay at Stanbridge from the 1/2 way point til the end of the course.
I still remember the pure luxury of having hot water ALL the time!? (It was still a slum though!)
And the hassle of having to 'hide' my car (1967 Blue Morris 1000) on the parade grounds on Friday Mornings 'cos we were supposed to go back to Stanbridge at Cease Work.

Likewise for AEF 42, we were told nowt about civvy qualifications..... think ours finished in Nov 80 at which point as some were being RTU'd or given decent postings, some **** decided i would be better suited in becoming permanent staff ending up being totally misemployed in Stn Workshops as an ATech E!!

Memories

Memories

This brings back some memories, AAF24, November 78 to May79. Up to Christmas our course was spread around different blocks at Halton, after the break we were together at Stanbridge, I think we were only the 5th or 6th course to be there. I dont think our kidney's could have survived any longer, liquid lunches in the 'Rose' or the 'British Legion', and the Stanbridge Naafi (normally) or town in the evenings, but despite the hangovers we still managed to become Aircraft Fitter Airframe - somehow, and we got our C&G pt2 certificates in Aeronautical Engineering thrown in.
Many stories could be told about our course, and the ones to follow no doubt !!!!
