What a show!
In my opinion, the Foo Fighters are one of the best (if not THE best) live bands in the world at the moment. Saturday night was the Foo fighters at their best as they ripped through 2 1/2 hours of their greatest hits (with a few lesser known tracks thrown in).
The show was advertised as being 'in the round' ie: with the stage in the center of the stadium and fans standing/sitting all around them. This was not really the case as the stage was actually at one end of the stadium with a long walkway leading to almost the other end of the pitch. Dave Grohl didn't take long to make use of this walkway, running down to the far end to salute the fans before the intro music had even ended.
The only problem with the stage setup was for the people sat 'behind' the stage had a very poor view, although the stage rotated, it only faced those poor people for one complete song with the band naturally facing the majority of the crowd for most of the concert. If I had seats in that area I would have felt a little hard done by!
The highlight of the show for the majority of people there (and Dave Grohl) himself by his reaction was the appearance of his 2 special guests during the encore. The crowd went wild as Jimmy Page and John-Paul Jones (Led Zep guitarist and basist) joined Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins on stage to play 2 old Led Zep numbers, 'Rock and Roll' (with Grohl taking a rare spot behind the Foo's drums and Hawkins singing) and 'Ramble On' where drummer and singer swapped to their more traditional places. Grohl seemed pretty emotional and lost for words after sharing 'the best moment of his life' with the 86,000 strong crowd.
The atmosphere during the whole show was electric, the best atmosphere i've ever experienced at a stadium concert, this was obviously helped by the Foo'f playing out of their skins and the song selection they played. Hearing 86,000 people singing along to 'My Hero' was amazing!
I would recomend to an rock music fan, if you get the chance, go to see the Foo Fighters live, they are an awesome live act, who have a definate love of playing to British audiences.
