Can anybody tell me if liver-outerers or married people on courses from 1st July 2007 will have to pay for meals they do not take at weekends etc, as I understand people on courses will have to pay for food. Can we claim back the weekend charges or is it a flat charge? How do we claim it back if we can? :PDT_Xtremez_40:

Without having read up on the charges for food while on courses, I would say no.

You have to be off for 3 days before you can claim food charges back (convenient that eh?) at home base. If you were a money grubbing organisation desperately trying to p1ss off everybody that works for you, why change that?

Ideal. Get sent away on a course and be forced to pay for food you are not eating because you have gone home for the weekend.

Of course PAYD will be different, but you can only have one sausage.

Good and bad as ever

Good and bad as ever

If you are on a Pay as you dine unit you just pay for the meals as you have them, after 1 Jul 07.

If you go to a normal unit and you live in (on rations) you pay for the day, no matter what meals you have.

If you are not on rations at your attached unit you buy meal tickets at the new lower rates.

Refunds during stand down have come down to over 24 hours, don't know how this works yet but it does not come in until 1 Apr 08.

On a good point the Essential Expences payment has now become a flat £5 with no requirement to keep receipts so this should off set the above costs.

See DIN 2007DIN02-075 for full details, I haven't got time to put the link in right now. One of the other changes to the food regs wef 1 Apr 08 is that you will be able to claim back food for standdown over 24 hours instead of 48; good if you go away at weekends but will JPA cope? Hopefully that answers your question from Apr 08 anyway!

I wonder if the powers that be in the MOD know how their legislation is going to be effected, ie, fd charges applied on JPA. I suspect not.

It will depend on the "single accommodation administrator" at the temporary assignment unit doing their job properly. I can give you a list of units where that doesn't happen now, never mind after the rule change. :PDT_Xtremez_08:

Never mind the temp assignment unit, what about every fecker who goes home to mummy at the weekend at the permanent unit?

I was kinda hoping that would be done as "self-administration", i.e., as one of the amendments to the leave program that are going on at the moment.

Can someone in the adminishpere please describe this in the early learning version with big pictures and big writing please....

This is handy gen for courses, would be nice if we could understand it....

Mono,

Currently, as you will know, if you're on standdown for periods over 48 hours you can claim your food money back (if JPA accommodated this regulation). WEF 1 Apr 08, the regs are changing to say that you can claim food back if you're on standdown for over 24 hours. Theoretically, this means every time you go home at the weekend, you can claim food charges back! Good for the livers in but could be a nightmare for the administrators unless it's a self service option as TBJ suggests.

I believe the date of 1 Apr 08 was because it was hoped that a majority of locations would be on PAYD, therefore making this less of an issue.

1 Jul 07, the rules change. Any time you go to another unit and eat in their mess you have to pay, whether it's a one day visit and you only have lunch, or on a course. Marital status and whether you live in or out at your parent unit are irrelevant.

1 Apr 08, the rules change again. There will be one "daily food charge"; there will be no abatement for married guys, but at the same time, periods of standdown in excess of 24 hours will qualify for a refund of food charges, so normal weekends will qualify.

Does that help?
