Went on Sunday with Mingmong and Wgaf.

Supported by Serj Tankian of system of a Down fame and a young Scottish band called Brady Cole, who were pretty good as well.

The foos were, of course absolutely stunning with Grohl giving it his all and a brilliant drum solo from Taylor!!!

They played

'Let It Die'
'The Pretender'
'Times Like These'
'Breakout'
'Long Road To Ruin'
'DOA'
'Learn To Fly'
'Cheer Up Boys (Your Make Up Is Running)'
'This Is A Call'
'Stacked Actors'
'Skin & Bones'
'Marigold'
'My Hero'
'Cold Day In The Sun'
'But, Honestly'
'Everlong'
'Monkey Wrench'
'All My Life'
'The Ballad Of Beaconsfield Miners'
'Keep The Car Running'
'Holiday In Cambodia'
'My Poor Brain'
'Best Of You'

They were awesome first night in manchester! played a few more songs just over 2 hrs!

They also had a drop down stage just in front of where I was sitting, which was a complete suprise!

Did the really hot violinist in long socks turn out?

As Wobbly said, an absolutely awesome show. In all the concerts i've ever been to, which as many of you know is a lot, this is one of the very best that I can remember.

They did have the drop-down centre stage for the acoustic section, and the hot violinist. Apparently on the Saturday they were joined for this segment by Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor.
The total time they played was arouns 2:15 hours. Comsidering some bands are charging up to £100 a ticket for O2 shows, it's refreshing to see that a band as popular and as good as the Foo's kept the price down to a respectable £35.

What a moment it must have been for a young band like Brady Cole to be joined onstage for their last song by no other than Dave Grohl himself, for an excelent renditioning of Teenage Kicks.

Tickets go on sale on Friday for the Foo's summer show next year (Jun 7th) at Wembley Stadium. I for one will definately be in the queue to get tickets, Foo Fighters are the best live band in the world at the moment (in my humble opinion of course).

I can confirm Brian May and Roger Taylor appearing on saturday, twas an awesome show, don't think too much of the O2 arena though, prefer somewhere with a bit of character, like the Hammersmith Odeon, although I think that would've been a bit small for the Foos, and I doubt they'd have been able to get the centre stage dropping down from the ceiling in there.

I've got no idea how long they were on for, just enjoying the set, lots of the old classics from the foos and then Year of 39 from Messrs May and Taylor.:PDT_Xtremez_30:

As an arena, O2 is very good, I found the facilities outstanding and the sound quality where I was sat was spot on. However I do agree with your comments that the smaller venues such as Hammy Odeon or Brixton Accademy have a lot more intimacy and character. I was at Wembley Arena on Saturday (Alice Cooper, Motorhead, Joan Jett) and that has improved dramatically since last time I was there.

I did read a review on the Foo's Sunday gig saying that playing '39 was a mistake due to not tnough of the yoofs in the Arena not knowing it. Personally I would have been singing along to every word at the top of my voice :)
As Brian May and Roger Taylor seem to be such good buddies with Dave Grohl (they were at Hyde Park last year too) then maybe he can convince Queen to support the Foo's at Wembley next year with Paul Rogers singing again, now that would be a lineup to go and watch.

The big problem these days with out stadia, especially in London seems to be access, it seems that London transport people don't care less about getting people home after concerts/events, I heard from a friendly copper at O2 that people were queueing for the tubes for 2-3 hours after Saturdays show until they stopped running and left everybody stranded. That sort of thing is gonna make us look really good come the Olympics!

London Underground have always been like that :PDT_Xtremez_25:

Whilst living in the Capital, I saw a few gigs at Brixton and its not the best of places to be waiting for a nightbus if you miss the last Victoria Line tube.

Im supprised O2 have not come to some agreement with London Underground on sunday concerts, however the tube normally closes an hour earlier on a sunday.

Off Topic Mrs Pugwash and me must have been lucky with the tubes, but we weren't so lucky with the train from Paddington, thank you Great Western Trains for cancelling the midnight train and then putting the smallest train in christendom on at 1230 ****** Off Topic

Where i was sat, on the very steep balcony about 3 o clock from the central stage, the sound was excellent, and everyone was singing along with '39, perhaps I was in the giffers area?
