AIR RANK AND COMMAND APPOINTMENTS LIST 9.15

Air Commodore A S Corbett MBE to be promoted Air Vice-Marshal and to be Deputy Director Commonwealth Integration, Washington in October 2015. This is a new post.

Questions -

  1. Since when has Washington been in a member country of the Commonwealth?
  2. Is the post of Director Commonwealth Integration (3* rank?) also a new post?

The cost of these types of 'jobs for the boys' must be horrendous.

Has anyone got access to the latest and historical RAF Lists to see how many Air Officers are serving today compared with 50 years ago when the RAF was around five times bigger than today?

I have not seen the final details, but this officer will serve on the US Joint Staff and will be responsible for the planning for integration of Commonwealth member-nations military operations with the US military. This position will also likely rotate among officers from different member nations.

I have not seen the final details as to which part of the Joint Staff this officer will serve, however, the structure is that there is a Director with subordinate Deputy Directors who supervise different areas. So the title would be something like:

Deputy Director (of Operations) (for) Commonwealth Integration. There is no Director of Commonwealth Integraton.

This would be one of 4-5 other Deputy Directors each responsible for different areas such as "Current Operations", "Regional Operations", "Nuclear Operations", etc., etc. Or if it is under J-5, Plans, "Deputy Director for Western Europe", "Asia", "Africa", "Middle East", etc.

So, like Barch suggested - "jobs for the boys"....:PDT_Xtremez_28:

=...and will be responsible for the planning for integration of Commonwealth member-nations military operations with the US military....

So...A Commonwealth nation wants to join an exercise/operations with Uncle Sam, what the hell has it got to do with us ? Why can`t they liaise direct ?

Is it a language thing ? :PDT_Xtremez_42:

The question must be asked ...

How did they cope without this position for the previous several decades?

Maybe it's a post that rotates around all the commonwealth countries (or at least the major ones) and is typically filled by someone with previous commonwealth liaison experience - attache or exchange tours?
