A couple of months ago, I applied for a job as an FTRS(LC) Supply Corporal on an Auggie Sqn. I went for the interview this week, and was told the next day that I'd got the job. Get in the back of the net you beauty.:PDT_Xtremez_28:

So I wont be rejoining the Regulars as an AC/LAC Supplier, as Ive been going through the recruiting process to do over the last few months(see Upper Age limit thread in Recruiting Q&A forum)

I live in Newcastle, my current Auggie Sqn is 609 at Leeming, the FTRS job is at Waddo. So, Ill be moving down there and living in the block, commuting back to Newcastle as and when i can.

Excellent news eh.

Bloody well done mate congratulations! Glad someone is having some luck! haha :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Nice one mate. Many hearty congrats. I too am rejoining (as per my thread in the Rocks Forum) but going back in as an SAC on pay band 9. Roll on march 30th I say.

Well done again TW.:PDT_Xtremez_28:

Congratulations TW, I am off to a recruiting day in March for the Auggies so seems us older guys have a way forward afterall.

Anyone know if there's a list of RAF FTRS jobs published anywhere on the net?

Speaking to a guy I know who is FTRS pay band 9 may not be the best option.

Basically if you have done 22 and are in receipt of an immediate pension, you are financially better off going in as pay band 1 for tax purposes. You obviously then still have incremental pay to look forward to and your tax breaks for pension purposes are already set (on whatever payband you manage to join as)

If you are not on an immediate pension then obviously the more money the better.

Well, Ive started my new job at last. Command took their time confirming the appointment(basically, because of the initial advert), so instead of starting on the 1st of April, I started this week.
So Im now living in the block(well not as I type, as Im back up home for the weekend)
Ive got loads of stuff to take down in the car. Also I want to buy a fridge, microwave during the week.

All exciting stuff.

Its great to be back in the RAF full time. Ive been made to feel very welcome.
Ive even been dicked for guard.

Its all a bit differnt to joining the regulars back in 91.
Day 2 this time, I got up at 5am, raced round doing block jobs, tidied my bedspace, stood by bed at 7:30, but no-one came to inspect me.:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Incidentally, my eldest son is doing exactly that at the minute, as hes at Pirbright, doing basic training with the Army, just finished week 3.

And Parky, how have your applications progressed?

Nice one mate! Good to see a happy thread!

And think on - if ever you can't get home on a Friday night, there's always the H&J!

FTRS jobs

FTRS jobs

FTRS jobs are generally only advertised on Station Standing Orders. I got mine through a friend seeing it. If youre able to access the intranet sometimes other stations will advertise but generally you need to look at the appropriate station you want to work at. For some jobs FTRS are seen as way forward cos we aren't civvie but we don't cost as much. I am now 4 weeks into my post and its great to be working full time with RAF rather than as RAuxF......

They do advertise FTRS on the reserves Website as well tho. At least they were last year.

Pension

Pension

I may have this wrong but I was led to understand that if you took service as ftrs then your immediate pension from the military is put on hold untill you cease your ftrs service time ? Have I got this bit wrong is a worldly wise scribbly to give me an answer. :PDT_Xtremez_35:
