Ive been advised by Staffs uni that a good way on to an MBA is the Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Managment GCLM.

My question is simple has anyone on the "I escaped" side of the fence ever heard of this particular qualification? and if so whats it really worth?

The UNI are putting it along side a Honours Degree.

Nope

The old lead-in was Certificate in Management or Diploma in Management, both of which offered credits.

That said, it is a vocational degree and experience counts a lot more, though some Uni's like to interview and set a small exam (or indeed insist on the GMAT test)in case you are a complete biff.

I've sat on both sides of the recruiters desk and while any qualification will help you get to the interview stage I've never had my various papers checked and never asked to see anyones.
BUT and its a big but I always tested anyone after a techy position even if it was quite basic.
For example looking for a factory electrician one question was
110v 1000watts what size fuse/ breaker is needed, 3/5 got it wrong and yes they all had wonderful CVs.

If you are up to a MBA without an education kick start then go straight for the MBA.

If you've been out of education or never studied at under grad then it may be worth it, although there may be other courses you could do instead.

At the end of the day the college will be making an extra couple of grand out of you so will always recommend the course.
