I'd say tell them. If you don't, they'll probably find out anyway, and if they find out and you haven't told them, they'll want to know why. Honesty is always the best policy....allegedly.
 
Tbh, I'm not sure why this is even a question. If previous service was fine then why would you not declare it? If there was a problem with with it then I would still say so, because it's bound to be found out anyway.
 
I would imagine any previous service would count towards your pension, which is another good reason to declare it.

AP 1 - Honesty & Integrity and all that....
 
You’ll be asked the question directly so answer it honestly like you would any other yes/no question.

It’s fine to have a bit of imagination when answering tell me about yourself questions during the interview, however, facts are facts and as others have said, you wouldn’t want your integrity to be in doubt.
 
Thanks for all the replies. Reason for the question was just to see if me declaring previous service, would it steer me into a career path similar to my previous service as I have experience. I’m a qualified accountant now but I was in the infantry for previous. So wanted to look at admin and support and not RAF Reg. if that makes sense.
 
I was a recruiter for a couple of years - The application process these days is all online, so you apply for a certain role. You control the application and role that you want. Undertake the selection test and get the score that you need, only if you score low would they look at offering a different role. I would definitely declare previous service and the benefit of pension accrued is a huge bonus. You would make for an interesting interview, experience.
 
Hi all, so you will see that I have changed the title. Didn’t want to post loads of threads.

I was brought up in care so have had some depression and anxiety problems in the past. I’m 42, own house, married, 2 kids and covid. So a lot of life issues over the past 20 years.

Is there someone on here that I could message relating to medical screening.
 
Medical screening is 'in confidence' even for the recruiting personnel who process applications past interview. A general GP medical is undertaken and any issues that may arise are then looked into for a 'Specialist Medical', so the information would be sought to clarify your history - e.g Asthma, severe fractures, illnesses, medication for mental health, poor hearing, mobility. The medical conditions that may prevent you joining are defined on the recruiting website. I hope that this helps.
