Hoping all you stacker types can help me out on this one.

I'm doing a university assignment that involves looking at the ways in which supply and aircraft squadrons interact. Its kind of a broad remit but I need some information on the processes by which spares and parts are passed from manufacturer, to supply to squadron and other such info.

My question is this, are there "stacker" APs so to speak that deal with such things? I'm guessing the system has recently been amended due to centralisation of spares at Army depots.

Any gen from those in the know would be helpful.

Looking for serious replies only please people.

Cheers

I'm on leave at the moment Hu then on nights when I get back, I wondered if there was an online written reference I could actually use.

Sorry if that's inconveniencing you.

You really need to brush up on your sarcasm mate that won't even make him flinch:PDT_Xtremez_17:

If all else try Fcuk off you cnut not sarcasmgranted but we old timers understand that:PDT_Xtremez_31:

THe RAF Supply bible was AP 830 (or a number in the 800 range) if memory serves, though the last time I had any thing to do with it was 13 years ago.

MB the old AP830 was the supply handbook which gave details of all supply procedures however this has been replaced with a new JSP which as i dont know the name of as im a wing mong and havent kept up with supply stuff that much. I know it is on the intranet so if someone knows what one it is im sure you will be able to find all the info you require.

The system is pretty simple really all that happens is when a bit of kit is required a contract is set up (to the lowest bidder of course) by those in the A4cell who will order a initial quantity which will then be stored. When your helpful sqn stacker places a demand it will be issued from its depot or direct from manufacteur. Once it is on the carrier it will arrive at unit and r&d will receive it and a voucher will be produced to send it to the sqn so fwd del will deliver it to sqn stores and your stacker will then issue it to you.

Thats it broke down to its simplist form but if ive got anything wrong im sure a scaf type will soon correct me. Hope this helps if not just get the name of the AP and your sorted.

Thanks for that mate, sort of clarifies a little bit, a JSP number would be great as I can then print off (at works expense!) a copy for my own reference whilst I write up my assignment.

I'd also be interested to know if anything has changed supply end since aircraft parts were centralised at Army supply depots - for example Bicester, I'm basically writing about the supply system pre and post restructure and if it has had an effect on a squadrons mandated training aims (i.e. a reduction in serviceable airframe output due to inability of spares) so I need some good supply gen so I don't make myself look stupid! :PDT_Xtremez_30:

JSP 886, get in, an armourer out stackering stackers. Guess who runs his own explosive accounts? It's a fascinating tome.

Dam it DS beat me to it, if you want any more gen mate, I am working on the new supply chain for the Lynx replacement (another Lynx) for the whole of Armed Forces

The JSP 440 i believe is the one you want mate. As for the army having the spares and timeline to receive them i wouldnt be able to help there mate as im not on a flying unit at the mo. Although i do beleive that alot of the fast jet spares went to germany as thats where the army have most of their AAC units and if its aircraft spares it must have to go there! (Dont you just love em).

Well would half the Tonka spares being in Germany for no good reason, be a good enough difference for you?

Bugger got there too late :PDT_Xtremez_30:

The plumber got it right. The JSP886 Vol 13 covers all Supply for the Air Environment. There are other 886's for Land and Sea and movement of stores around the world. Nowt wrong with a wing mong but they tend to be out of touch a tad.

Regards

Stax

Isn't 440 the manual of RAF Security?

Most of our problems is that we don't have a sqn stacker, they were fcucking leaned out by Simpler et al!!

You might like to look up the DCSA for how Depots will be working in the future and MBIS for how SS3 SCCS and CRISP will be replaced
and MMIT for tracking material in transit
and MJDI for the joint logistic IT system any where forward of the DCSA and industry footprint

If you look at the Vol 1 of the 886 that may help you with the Joint Supply Chain process. Other than that look at the DE & S website on the defence intranet. They're the geezers that have to carry out E2E, so thats as good a place to start. Other than that, just ask any techie, they think they know our jobs inside out anyway !!! Just put that in there for this to be moved to the fight club......LOL
