Long and short of it, I was SNCO of a BB. Went in today to do my weekly check, only to be told, my block has been given to someone else. I was off sick for the week before Xmas when the decision was made, the stn Adj who made the decision has been posted in the meantime.

The reason given was to keep the hierarchy within one squadron. Both OC and SNCO both aircrew.

I am hacked off at the way it has been handled, as far as I am aware there were no complaints with my management of the block. I put a load of effort into this duty for both the occupants and the RAF.

Can I put in a service complaint over the handling of the situation?

How long have you been doing BB as your secondary duty? I managed to keep mine all the time I was at the large Wiltshire transport station 'cos nobody else wanted it. I had a good set of Cpl's in there, plus I knew all the troops and the whole thing ran like clockwork. It came in very handy when other duties were being allocated. "Sgt 'Fuse here's a sh1tty little task ....". "I do the block ... anyone want to take it over ...". "Oh sorry, I forgot about that. Sgt XYZ can I have a word ...".

The inventory is still mine at the moment, need to arrange a handover, but the new guy is detached at the moment. As is the OC!

Only had the block for 6 months!

Hang on to the inventory and don't make any arrangements to hand it over. The OC may think that 6 months is long enough; your predecessor may have told him to stuff the BB. But if you like the job then get to see him ASAP and tell him that you're prepared to do it for another stint.

.....on the other hand, AOCs is always in the next 6 months, and that's a whole world of $hit, block wise.

(unless that too is now contracted out to Serco?)

Right to complain?

Right to complain?

I think you really do have a right to make your viewpoint heard at least. I suspect, reading your thread, that you have done such a good job over the last 6 months, someone else wants to piggy back onto your success. This outcome is so typical of the old boys network. I personally would put in writing, very politely, your viewpoint, your disappointment at the way you have been handled and the resolution that you wish.

Sir,

I am Sgt Xxxxxxx of xxxxxxx section. At the moment I am the SNCO I/C BBXX. It is with great disappointment and no small feeling of confusion that without reason or excuse I find myself being prematurely removed from this position. In a very short period of time I have bulit a superb working relationship with the blocks occupants improving their quality of lives whilst making Block X one of the most coveted accomodation assets on this station. A faultless and enviable inspection history proves this as does the verbal testimony of each and every inhabitant.

With the above in mind I respectfully request to be properly imformed as to the reason why my good work to date is being cut short. I feel that I should be brought up to speeed as soon as possible so I can, out of respect, inform my blocks occupants of their change in governance.

A personal request from me is that I be allowed to continue for at least a year which seems to be the minimum most SNCO's get to make an impact with their secondary duties. This early removal is not only seen by myself as a blot on my record but also will have an impact on this years assessment.

Yours etc etc etc.

Send that fecker and don't change the addressees...makes you look like the good guy and the SWO will have to a) find someone to explain the longer words and b) explain to a groupie why he is rocking the boat.

Or you could always 'man up!' as you are a supposed to be SNCO and get a credible secondary duty.

The origional point still stands surely?

I'm sure we've all had someone try and piggy back off any sort of hard work we have done in any duty before. I haven't put up with it in a long time so why should anyone else.

Cheers for the replies, email going out tomorrow, SWO here is a PTI so it will confuse the hell out of him.

I will do my very best to man up and volunteer my services as masseur for the netball team!

but put it through a spell checker first

but put it through a spell checker first
And a grammar checker to check for proper use of apostrophe's:PDT_Xtremez_30:.

Apart from the pedantry, a pretty decent email/letter from the Vimster and probably the correct approach. If you put it in writing then the fcukers are duty bound to respond in kind, which will totally fcuk any illiterate PTI.:PDT_Xtremez_28:

So were any mails sent ? and replies ?

Made me smile so interested on the follow up.

Crack on.................:PDT_Xtremez_09:
